Pliny is easily worth $7 per bottle.

Having the Stone 500ml releases, I will say I think those are genuinely overpriced. And I'm a big fan of their beers. But the price really isn't right, just compare to Firestone. FW Boxes are a huge bargain in comparison. $15.99 for 22oz of Parabola compared to $18.99 for DB Rye.

    Ouch.

What's Heady Toppers retail on the 4 16 oz. cans?

It seems to make its way to the NY area for around $7.50/can. I guess thats black market "beer store" prices. I can't say that I haven't given in in some fashion. Yet I feel like I am trading away almost 4 times the amount of local elevated ipa cans($9-$10 4 pack of 16 oz/ cans). So add in shipping and less than perfect freshness, and it becomes a point where I am short changing my local breweries by A LOT. Buying into the hype is a big thing.

I've done blind tastings. Is either HT or PtE worth 2-4 more than local 1 day old product? No. not really. But millions want to see it to believe it. And even then, not many go blind tasting with it. So the hype lives on.

Ballast Point just cut their prices dramatically in Colorado... I guess that purchase is helping a little after all

120 minute at $10 per bottle is the first thing that comes to mind. The high alcohol is overpowering and is more of a novelty beer more than anything

Nothing is overpriced. If its too much for you or you cant afford it, don't buy it. The beer that doesn't sit for a bit is underpriced. Many breweries need to raise prices.

pliny is totally worth the money local and fresh.

most local hot shot IPAs are more worth getting than trading for pliny, sure. that said, if you have any concept of history, innovation, etc, you need to get the "pliny isn't even top 50 IPA" shit out your mouth immediately.

@tylerstravis How much has BP dropped? For NM, We just got them distributed in May of 2015. $15 seemed normal for Sculpin and GF sculpin sixers. It was as low as $9 for the other varieties. The big box price was $13/sixer on sculpins. I was there last week, and everything seemed to be the same. I personally havent bought since their buy out. Too many other world class breweries need my spending moneies help. For 5 months though. GF Sculpin was bought without a second thought.

PtE at $6/smaller bomber amounts to what many smaller local breweries charge for what they think is "top tier" product. $5.50 to $7 for a smaller pour of "draft" seasonal or special release is the norm. If that amounts to everyones satisfaction, I don't know. I try to stay away from what I deem as overpriced pours. (Far too often they offer the same in growler form for much cheaper. That can easily make a drunk out of a normal man lol).

So as long as people buy that other crap, no judgement should be laid on PtE.

Sculpin 6 packs... Talk about ruining the market. The damage has already been done.

I personally thought that once BP entered my market and sales soared, others would inch their way up in price. I only have about 7 months of data. But I have yet to see a stark increase all around. There is still that "race to the bottom" 'craft' beer drinker that many distributors are fighting for. Quite a few quality local IPAs have nearly reached $1/12 oz can in my market... How BP competes with that? I don't know. BP is definitely the highest of them all. I can count 10 others worth more as a function of their quality/price. BP seems more harmful than helpful at this point.

All of the sixers that used to be $14-$15 are now $9. I thought they were just closeout prices, but that's the new price across the city.

I enjoy Sahalie beers, but they retail for over $60 where I live now. That to me is over priced and over valued, despite being pretty good there's a lot of local beers that are just as good (or close enough) for 1/5 the price. You're paying for rarity at that point since very few come to Vancouver, BC.

Rogue fancy looking bottle beers tend to be over priced, like Morimoto Imperial Pilsner is $16.99 a 22oz bottle and their Voodoo Doughnut line is pretty pricey too.

Pretty much any bottle in the $40+ range I find over priced, not to say they aren't great beers but often can find just as good or better for half the price.

I haven't tried any of the 50/50 Eclipse variants, but at $30 a bottle, I'm not keen to. There are so many world-class BBA stouts under $20, and I can't see Eclipse being better than, say, Tweak, Parabola, or Tough Love. And at only 11% (or 9.8% for the 2012 vintage, which appears to be a constant shelf turd)? At least The Bruery's priciest beers have higher ABVs than your average BA stout.

I think Victory at Sea six packs are actually pretty reasonably priced in comparison to most six packs of high ABV beers, but $13.99 is too much for their regular beers when I can, for instance, get some better IPAs for between $7-11 a six pack.

Buyer beware: It's a complete shit show trying to buy Pliny from K/L's website. They release it once a week, sometimes once every two weeks. It's gone within minutes. You have to sit there and refresh your browser in anticipation of it showing up as available to purchase, and you better have fast internet.

Sorry, rant over. I know you were probably just trying to reference the price but I had to throw this in.
