Omg. Went to the BBIS release today. Waited 1.5 hours to get in. Well worth it. The 2014 was phenomenonal. '15 is very good. Just tapped the #7 at 4pm and it is tasting very very good.. My order is the '14, #7,' 15, '13. These brews very legit. Was a 2 bottle limit on the' 15 and 1 on the #7 by the time I got through the line. Hope you all made it. Cheers!

Not willing to wait an hour and a half in line ... or half that for that matter. I'll be enjoying the other barrel aged release this evening, which will likely have no line at all.

Welp, #7 is crossed off the board. So hopefully you made it within this last hour. It was outstanding.

I'm bummed Seattle seems to be going the way of the Midwest. Long lines and lots of disappointed beer lovers. I got so excited for this release but had to work today. I guess I'll have to console myself with a CCBB.

i hear you, and also feel the disappointment of missing out on this beer. but this release has been this way for the past 3 years. i waited an hour for the '13 release and like many others, said never again. waiting and hype obviously plays a factor in how a beer is perceived by many, so it's not like this is going to go away. people love long lines and building excitement... i'm okay with letting others have that experience.

speaking of hype: just got a couple treehouse cans in a box and can't wait to crack these open.

Nice. I'm always interested to hear how these east coast beers with crazy hype actually compare to our stuff.

    This is no meager consolation...

And the fact that you can thus console yourself is also a sign that the Northwest has not gone entirely the way of the Midwest. CCBB is proving itself to be an ephemeral "shelf beer" because Fremont can make enough and because the market in these parts is not yet overwhelmingly voracious. In how many other places would this be true?

I would have liked to have supported Reuben's today by waiting in line with the masses. I did that last year, but decided never to do so again. It's great to support a small, independent brewer you admire, but when you toe the line, figuratively, (and wait in it, literally, for hours) mostly because of the FOMO, you become part of the problem.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply our market overall was like the Midwest. I've just seen more long lines for beer in the last six months than in the previous six years. The fact that I can swing by central market on my way home and grab a CCBB basically makes Seattle the greatest place on Earth, as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, between this, and the climate and topography, it's an embarrassment of riches for everyone here.

not to derail the thread about reubens, but those treehouse beers are something else. got a couple cans (julius, king julius, curiosity 23, green) and everything was stellar. there's nothing really like it to even come close to compare to in the PNW. the "sediment in suspension" seems to simplify the hop characteristics quite a bit and make certain flavors pop.

Hmm. Guess I'd better figure out how to get my hands on some without flying across the country.

Central market definitely comes through when other places have sold out

Reubens is doing the Seattle Beer Week beer this year. Daily Pale in April.

Plus cans of Gose next month and Crikey later this year.

Well, Lincoln, Dr. King, Churchill, and a handful of others also uttered some fairly cogent things over the years. But I like to think you're not being too effusive.

Did Reuben's get a canning line with their expansion? If so, that's amazing news. I've never tried their gose, but I've heard only good things. Cans of Crikey might overtake Topcutter as my go-to local IPA. I feel spoiled, and I love it.

I thought the Block 15 Intergalactic Hop Shop compared very favorably to Treehouse.

    But I digress ...

I was in there last night and spoke briefly with Adam. I asked if they were getting a mobile canning line to come in for the beer(s) and he pointed over his shoulder at a brand new setup. He said he had to choose between a bottling and a canning line, and he chose cans—with a nudge from the SBW guys. It got busy before I could get dates on the forthcoming cans.
