Whoa yeah! Tried a bottle last night and as soon as I brought the glass up to my nose for a smell I had a pretty good sense that I was in for a treat. Personally, I have not had an IPA this full and juicy outside of New England. An outstanding beer and I am absolutely amazed how the beer can ship from CA on 1/10 and be in my hands in NC 5 days later. Another outstanding effort by the gang @ Stone.

Grabbed a sixer of it today, bottled 1/10/16 which is awesome and fresh! However, I feel like mine isn't very hazy... And looking at some of the other people posting I wonder if there is something wrong with my pack. You tell me.[IMG]

Compared to OG EnjoyBy, that's for sure hazy.

I would have to agree Caps, but I suppose I expected more like the picture @breadwinner posted than something close to Citrusinesis from Lagunitas. It's definitely more hazy than regular Enjoy By, but nowhere near that picture breadwinner posted.

I had a bomber and first pour was more clear than what you had. Second pour was hazy but after sitting cleared up.

You said the beer tastes awesome but you seem disappointed that the beer does not appear as hazy as someone else's picture? This (over)emphasis on haze/turbidity these days blows my mind.

No need to get salty man. Pretty sure this is a forum for us to express our feelings about beer. And again... Just my opinion. If those were your Wheaties I pissed in, my apologies.

Kinda speaks towards the hazy IPAs not just being unfiltered. There is some other shit going on. Wheat use, yeast choice, hopping... Not quite the lazy burnout brewer crap alot of people are talking.

The big breweries likely have more advanced mashing/ lautering methods, which helps clear out the beer, as well as using clarifying agents. So stone likely did all of these things but just did not run it through their filtration/ pasteurizing system to clear out the haze/live yeast to make it crystal clear.

I'd say these east coast hazy beers are closer to cask conditioned beers, still active yeast, hop particles, etc.

Just tried it. It tastes the same, but hazier, if that makes any sense. Yum.

    A comment and a question.

Comment: If you look at the bottle you can clearly see how the sediment has settled to the bottom of the bottle. Yesterday I opened a bottle, took a sip or two and then poured it into a glass. Whala. A hazier looking IPA. Ingenious, I know.

Question: For any of you guys that have he the opportunity to have tried this version of Enjoy By and Foundation's Epiphany, are you tasting any similarities? I sure am which is a very good thing. Really digging this beer...

Temperature could easily be the difference. I drank a glass slowly last night and it cleared as it warmed up and there was not more sediment on the bottom. That is chill haze that does that.

@StoneGreg Hey Greg, I had the Unfiltered last night. I liked it a lot. I was assuming (based on the amount of sediment) that in addition to being unfiltered that no fining agents were used. I also noticed that there was a good bit of chill haze which made me wonder if the beer was cold crashed for any length of time other than for carbonating. Any chance you could fill us in a little more on how the beer was treated post-fermentation?

Mornin'! Glad you enjoyed it! I had one myself last night and enjoyed it as well.

I'm pretty dang certain we didn't use any finings. We don't tend to use them at Stone. For more details however we'd need to ping our brewers, so I'll let Jamie @StoneBrewingCo take that duty and get back to you on the nitty gritty. Cheers!
