Was at Haymarket on 1-13, a day after their 5th anniversary party. Sampled some great barrel aged stuff that they had from their party. Was only my second time there but was great both times. I was just wondering why I really never hear them mentioned on the site. Any others have thoughts on Haymarket?

I would have to respectfully disagree with this.

I like to go on Wednesday's for Pastrami night there. Good beers and AWESOME pastrami.

Pistrami Wednesday is awesome... followed closely by Reuben Tuesday.

And if not on either of those days, just go for "The Riot" pizza or sammich. Also, the beers there are great as well.

If I go on a non-Wednesday, then my go-to is the Riot with a Mathias to drink. Awesome combo

Haymarket is top-notch! I regret I missed the anniversary party and not even to get there the following day for any tasty barrel-aged leftovers. :-(

They were growlering the various barrel treatments of Indignant. Not sure if that's still the case but, wow, those were phenomenal. Particularly the longer aged versions.

Yeah, I'm also sad I missed the anniversary party. Claire's and Indignant are some of my favor local BA beers.

Was there last night. Still had all the indignants and clare on draft.

They offer growlers of the Indignant variants and Clare's is still on but will probably be gone in the next day or two. Draft only, no growler fills for Clare's.

They are awesome, perhaps the hype machine is less crazy since they don't do any packaged sales. How can the whale hunters hoard their beer if it is draft only?

If they bottled and distro'd Clare's Thirsty Ale and BA Indignant, I bet you would see lines at Binny's.

There's an "imperialized" version on now, Batch #500. Pretty great. They were doing growlers of that as well as of friday.

Was in Chicago for a bachelor party a couple years ago. Amidst a 3 day binge that included Revolution, GI, and many bars in between, Haymarket was easily the highlight for me. Mathias and BA Indignant were incredible. The old school 4-player Pac-Man machine didn't hurt either.

Simple: They offer up howlers for trade in exchange for your BCS variants. Some awful offers were put forth by the howler holders on trading forums this past week.

    I love Haymarket!!
I use it as one of my Pre-United Center options as they offer buses to the Hawks & Bulls games.
The back barroom is a great place for midsized gatherings.
Add in great food and beer and they have all the bases covered.

Anyone know what they have for growler fills as of today (Claire's Thirsty, etc.)? I'm thinking of possibly stopping there tomorrow while up in Chicago for a concert.

Stopped in for a drink Friday night while waiting for a table at nearby restaurant. Didn't see Thirsty on draft but they did still have all 4 BA Indignents.

Not sure what they'll have for Growler fills, but i can pretty much guarantee that Clare's won't be available for fills again till their next Anniversary party (barring some other rare special occasion).

They should have some good beers on draft though (I believe Mathias is on tap) & tomorrow is Reuben Tuesday.

    Cheers

Thanks for the info! Do they usually have growler fills in general of some stuff? Also, side question: Is Au Cheval worth stopping at and if so, what burgers/whatever would you recommend? Someone recommended stopping there and since it's right close by Haymarket, I figured I'd consider going there too.
