You're probably already in London, but if you stop by Kris Wines or BottleDog and find something good or rare, could you let me know? I was at BottleDog a couple of days ago and picked up a Yellow Belly, but at £9/each I couldn't get more than one. That might be the most I've paid for a 330 mL bottle!

Don't think I'll get there until I move in mid-March actually!

I did have some Fullers 170th Anniversary Ale which was alright, though not as nice as the vintage ales I've had. Also sampled was Kernel Simcoe Pale Ale and a pint of Proper Job with lunch.

Disregard the last post as I've found miltiple threads on the topic.

Back to this thread: I had a kernel IPA mosaic simcoe last night and it was a treat. Hoping to get there tomorrow for some bottles.

Beware the weekend engineering works! As it turns out I should be passing by the Harp again tomorrow so I may pop in and see what's what.

Today though I swapped my sainsbobs nectar points for a 4 pack of tanglefoot and another of London Pride, cheap stuff but valued at over a tenner thanks to our benevolent rulers. The tanglefoot is alright, the Pride not so much. It's always such a ridiculously soapy beer.

Don't think I've posted on this thread before, but just having a Centennial Porter by Torrside Brewing and it is so so good, I've had a few 'hoppy porters' from new craft brewers and haven't really liked any of them, they were unbalanced, but this is really good, balanced, refreshing and tasty.

Hard to balance new world hops with roasty flavours imo, some do it very well though.

Had a couple of homebrews, a strong hoppy bitter that is very good but a bit murky for my tastes and an oat malt stout that isn't tasting as good as I'd hoped.

    Now smashing back some brandy

I made it two weeks into dry January and I was too tempted after my local posted a picture of their beer list on Facebook, magic rock/Buxton/thornbridge/beavertown/tiny rebel. Oh well. Here's to another 2 weeks...

Arbor was another great beer from them, an American brown ale. Globale was the first collaboration from this lot :

It was a California Common, a little sweet for my tastes but still very drinkable.

I saw that as well. Unfortunately for me, my palate is not well in tune with very high IBUs. I tend to shy away from crazy IPAs. I might have a pale ale or maybe a punk IPA, but that's about it. I'm much more on board with malt and stouts/porters are my preference. I appreciate you letting me know!

Had a Rodenbach Character Rouge on tap in CASC Aberdeen on Saturday, mind was duly blown. The other half was not feeling it, slowly trying to build her up from fruited Lambics to other sours. Gonna have her on stouts by next Christmas mark my words!

From what I can remember from last year it was more tropical than bitter.

Continuing my bargain beer binge with Banks's Mild 3.5% pale mild (4x500ml for £3.29 at b&m) and Black Sheep Ale (4x440ml for £2.99 at b&m). Not had the pale mild before - to be honest I thought I was buying the dark mild, but I might buy it again at this price. Not strong but fresh tasting like I imagine proper mild should be, with sweetness and (relatively) lots of fruity hop flavour. Not a million miles away from being the little brother of the strong Fullers barleywines actually.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is b&m? I need to start finding more budget friendly beers

It's a chain of budget supermarkets for want of a better phrase, B&M Bargains. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/B_&_M
Home Bargains is a good bet too and has had very similar stock and prices to B&Ms
