Yeah, exactly. It's a style w/o a single mass distributed example at the moment. Kinda hard for most folks to compare 3-day old draughts/cans they'll never see to the usual stuff they can get on their grocery store shelves. Not suggesting the beer isn't good -- only that, perhaps, our veneration of "juicy" beer has as much to do with mega fresh beer as it does new wave hops, hazy beer, etc.

    Modern times "mega fortunate islands"
Avery "raja" are probably my favorite and have that juiceyness

Tried one of the NE IPA touted beers by Cellermaker today --Purity Supreme -- a 7.3 % brew made w Simcoe/Mosaic/Southern Passion and Motueka hops. it's got the look -- but is kind of a mess. Yeasty in the middle -- dank and drawn out bitter finish. This is a miss for them. Have another called Tremont Pale or IPA - hope it's better. They need to speed up that collab w Trillium IMO. We need to strengthen the NE/VT Style IPA west coast beachhead in SOMA...maybe @GetMeAnIPA can give 'em some tips??

I had that on draft and I didn't experience any lingering bitterness. Out of the three NE beers they've done, that was my least favorite tho. Wicked Juicy is the best by far. Tremont was very good however.

    Is this a trick question?

Wicked Juicy and Tremont have been pretty good but I prefer pretty much every other Cellarmaker APA/IPA brewed in the west coast style. It is probably just my taste preferences but I also hope that Cellarmaker doesn't take it upon themselves to try and make the NE/VT IPA a west coast thing.

Block 15's new Intergalactic Hop Shop IPA is pretty juicy and it comes from the west coast. Not surprisingly, it's full of an assortment of tropical flavor producing hops.

Kern Citra obviously. My perosnal favorite would be Modern times - Booming Rollers

Kern citra more west coast than east coast IMO. Not really juicy in the NE orange juicy sense of OPs description.

Live in the Bay...was there last week. I had a few of theirs...have to say...not as great as the East Coast brewers, but they are indeed...legit!

You've had a few and you're already concluding this? I have to say I disagree, by a lot. Cellarmaker makes better beer than anything Ive had from the East. TH, Trillium, HF all included. But hey, to each their own. CM is more versatile too.

Well will have to agree to disagree. Highway To The Danker Zone was excellent, but for me it wasn't an "across the board" 5. I agree they are versatile, and I think they are my new favorite Bay Area brewery. Better than HT and HF? Sure. Better than Trillium? Maybe. Better than Lawson's? Nope.

Cellermaker is a great new brewery - I visited in Oct and loved the hoppy ales --Tiny Dankster w tons o Nelson hops was real nice. Recently got a few growlers shipped east of Tremont and Purity Supreme (see above). But --IMO -- It's way way premature to compare them to established and innovative NE breweries like TH or HF. Also -- not sure why you distinguish Lawson's from the other NE giants given they they basically have two regular beers right now both brewed under contract in CT. Love 2X sunshine but they are brewing a trickle of the beer that TH/Trill and HF are pumping out w their expanded facilities. If anything -- I'd say cellermaker is certainly as "good" as Lawson's given the quality and breadth of their portfolio of beers.

Not as established? I think TH is less than a year older than CM? HF sure I get that but lets not get into HF. Wasted a lot of money getting up there in October. Can we just establish something. You know that someone from SF would probably argue the exact opposite of what you are? Most people I talk to in SF have barely just started to hear about TH and Trillium so they likely think that CM is established and places like TH are behind. The region you live in has a lot to do with when you become aware of a brewery. Hence why your first visit was in October. Not really arguing but Im just saying you certainly couldn't be taken seriously if you were in the Bay area and made that claim just the same way I can't be taken seriously on a website based out of Mass saying the exact opposite (apparently).

West Coast are typically drier and cleaner IPAs. When I think juicy IPA, Jai Alai comes to mind. Maybe some Coloarado IPAs like Odells. Nothing really from the WC.

Agree on the Jai Alai. Had it for the first time a few weeks ago in Florida (several of them) and it had a very apparent Orange Juice feel to it, with a touch of pine. Overall, an outstanding beer. Certainly juicey

Surprised Lawson's is your gold standard. Every time I have Sip, I think, "This is what gets folks panties in a bunch?" A nice, tropical-ish beer that I would have a hard time choosing amongst 10 other shelfies if it were so available. Different strokes and all that, of course -- I just always thought Lawson's was the outlier, and not in the right direction, when lumped in w/ Alchemist and HF.

Double Sunshine is the one that blew my mind. Never had SOS. Also, Chinooker'ed was amazing as well.

after finally tasting Lupulin River by Knee Deep, I say this beer is very close in taste to why an NE juicy IPA is. doesn't have a very juicy mouthfeel but taste is very very close.
