I love the fact that you added this sentence. You get it, but so many don't. They come here to look at a stupid rating but its all relative to what you like. See I'm the opposite of you. I prefer a fresh Pliny to all but maybe 5 other beers. And you don't, but I respect that!
    • Prairie is way overpriced IMO. I can understand a premium for BOMB!, its expensive to make, but 17 dollars for an average (IMO) saison? NO WAY. And thats from a non-price gouging establishment.
    • The Bruery
    • Ballast Point
    • Alpine after the Green Flash partnership. The beer is too inconsistent for me and I will not pay the premium for it. Give me 6 consistent bottles of Duet and we can talk.
    • Rogue. Thats ok, I can't take them seriously anyway
    • BMC, the biggest ripoff in the game.

Westy in Belgium. You can buy like 6 bottles of Rochfolt for one Westy from Brussels bottleshop.

Budweiser and Miller. In Atlanta we get Sculpin 6ers for 12.99 which to me is appropriate pricing. Yes some of the local IPAs are better at 9.99 like Tropicalia but are very hard to find or like Jai Alai is 2 months old and lost its hop edge.

Here it's more like $16 a 4pk which makes for like a $7.50 bomber which is still really good, butt I'll take old Rasputin for 9.99/4pk instead most of the time

That is a function of the distributor or retailer marking up the product, yes?

Yes and I am torn on this. This is perhaps one of my favorite Lagunita beers, but it languishes on the shelf due to that format. I believe that this beer would fly off the shelves if it was in a 6 pack format. This beer showed me that a well balanced DIPA doesn't have to ruin your mouth. Great beer, just needs to find it's place.

Ballist Point! Ballast Point! Ballist Point!
Heady is 82.50 out the door for a case anythign higher is price gouging but going rate is $100.00 a case. I think peopel take in line wait and gas for travel to get to that dollar amount.

    at $82.50 its $3.44 a can. and at $100.00 its $4.17 a can

"Overpriced beer" to me means beer that, to me, isn't worth what's being charged.

The Bruery, Firestone Walker Barrelworks sours, Lost Abbey, everything from Cascade, every single beer released by ABInBev and Miller/Coors...

Yes they make sour beers, but nothing as truly intense as Cascade, nor as unique in my opinion. And many of those are at similar price points as Cascade too.

I get my Pliny from the brewery so it's about 5 bucks a bottle and I trade $4$ for heady all the time. I think Pliny is still one of that best DIPA out there but I'm a big fan of RR and my California bias always shows up on these conversations hahaha cheers

Maine beer company, alpine, and anything evil twin. I love imperial biscotti break but their prices are ridiculous.

My strategy here is to not buy bombers (22 ounce bottles) regardless of who brewed the beer.

Based upon my readings on BA lately more and more consumers seem to be eschewing the bomber format. Maybe in another 5-10 years there will be no (or minimal) beers being sold in the bomber format?

    Cheers!

I'm not too sure, I'm sure others on here have more knowledge on the subject. But it could have something to do with you being in Colorado, and me being in MD.

Absolutely. I'm sure it's a good beer, but I'm not willing to find out for those prices. It can hibernate on the shelves. Although it is $25 ish here.
