You probably know this already but Crime and Punishment started having Premier League weekends. They show the 11:30 game on Saturday and the 12:00 game on Sunday. I plan on checking it out if I ever get a weekend day off.

So they can raise prices and limit the sticker shock.

Get back to me when they disallow folks using hand held devices. That is the biggest distraction, seeing folks all around me with attention glued constantly to small screens. One big screen is a lot easier to ignore or move away from.

Always a blast, was there yesterday with @Burntfoot and had a great time.
The TV wasn't really distracting or anything, aside from one dude that seemed to be cheering for both teams, haha! Yay, sports!

Sports games at bars is hipster repellent. Funny that this needs a thread.

Welp, I guess Sundays from late August through February are a no-go for me @ the Fermentaria now... I do my best to stay as far away from idiots screaming at the game on TV as I possibly can. (Note to those idiots: they can't hear you.)

Just saw that Crime + Punishment is going to start showing soccer... another place to avoid (at least during those times).

I don't really care one way or another about sports, but I'm curious about the "funny cartoons" and why it was important enough to specifically mention it. I have no problem with cartoons and am honestly curious what cartoons they feel are appropriate for their taproom. Modern kid/family friendly cartoons? Disney/Pixar animated movies? Retro nostalgic cartoons (e.g. Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbara, Voltron, He-Man, etc.)? Adult humor cartoons (like Adult Swim shows)? Japanese-style anime? All of the above?

Although I enjoy cartoons, in a bar setting I can only imagine select classic/retro cartoons that could be played with the sound off (e.g. Roadrunner vs Coyote, Popeye, Mickey Mouse, etc.) played for ambiance. I know some might roll their eyes at the idea classic cartoons could give a bar ambiance, but I have been to a handful of places that pulled that off. It's always ones that cater to a younger, trendy, artsy crowd, like Tired Hands does...

Alternatively, maybe "cartoons" was just an off-hand comment in a Facebook post that has no reflection on their plans at all.

How dare they! Don't they realize this will soon start attracting the unworthy, big-beer guzzling lowly swine? How will anyone ever enjoy a beer there ever again!

Randy, would you happen to know which cartoons are popular with the hipster community?

I was at the Fermentaria this past Sunday and I got to witness right in front of me (10 feet from where I was sitting) the inaugural use of the projector TV system. They pulled down the screen and the NFC football game came on. I am a BIG NFL football fan but I was so busy talking to other folks in the brewpub that I saw very little of the game despite my very close proximity. The owner (Jean) walked behind the bar one time and a patron yelled out: "Hey Jean, great TV!". Jean responded: "We will only use it for big games". I am not 100% sure what constitutes big games (playoff games?).

    Cheers!

No idea. But there are probably some old Mickey Mouse cartoons of him on high wheel bicycles that I hear hipsters like!

I'll tell you what I saw once that did work really well. Several years ago in Portland OR (hipster capital) my sister and I were walking down the street and we heard music we liked drifting out of bar, so we decided to check it out. I can't remember the band, but I would describe the style as moody ska (I just made up that description). Anyway, behind the band playing there was a large screen with an old Russian cartoon playing on a loop with no sound. The cartoon was like a Soviet Cossack version of Tom and Jerry...It was really odd, but it gave an interesting ambiance to the show.

The real question here is about "jumping the shark", strange and unusual . Local sourced. No samples, only our growlers.

Now this? Seems like a cop out.

Maybe you will soon be able to get that hamburger medium rare
