You know, I have been thinking about it for a while and people seem incredibly passionate on both sides. I am really torn but most likely will just end up giving neutral feedback for a lot of reasons which I'm sure some would agree with and others would not. That being said I have generally had great experiences with a lot really nice people on here and prefer to focus on those. Appreciate all the feedback regardless.

This is the exact screen you see when leaving feedback:

I'm sorry, but your expectation is that someone is going to back out of a trade, waste your time and dick you around?
Your expectations were met overall with a 'but' to qualify? Really?

I am pretty sure you expected this guy to follow through on the deal you agreed, and not back out. Unless there is more to the story you aren't sharing with us I am really struggling to understand...

This is why I pretty much only do major mail trades with people who have 40-50+ trades and are active participants in the site (on all the forums not just the trade ones) - I just can't trust the feedback system. It seems that the general trend has shifted toward leaving negative feedback only for catastrophic trades where someone's beer is outright stolen and the person is a complete arse-hole.

Really struggling with how you get to 'expectations met, but..' when the guy backs out completely.

We all have to remember that it is your feedback to leave and yours only. With that said, We (the community) can only guide or give our opinion(s) on what *feedback* we as a community or family seems *correct* in moving forward. You are right in that opinions, like anything else will vary.....in this particular case...*expectations were NOT met* and by leaving "nuetral" feedback it seems like a disservice to warn other traders. Not attacking you personally, just being honest and straight forward with my own opinions. You don't have to exchange beers to have a *negative* experience, especially after someone accepted a trade and clearly backed out.

Is there any more advice you need, or can we lock this up for reference?

And I think reasonable people can disagree on this; I wouldn't consider something "negative" that just ended up being a waste of time with some tool who wouldn't follow through on a commitment. Maybe I'm an optimist, but I'd put it in the "annoying" category, which doesn't exist, unfortunately.

Either way, with "OK" feedback people, if the OP enters his experience with this trader, people will be forewarned. To me, that's what the system is all about.

You make some really good points and options I had not considered. I certainly appreciate all the feedback and perspective, thank you everyone. I think we can lock this up. Again, I appreciate the help.
