There's some juicy gossip coming out of Spokane and it involves No-Li and a new citrus IPA!

    From Spokane 7:

"No-Li today announced the upcoming release of its second canned beer, Big Juicy IPA.

Mellower, fruit-forward IPAs, some containing actual fruit, are a growing trend among craft brewers. Big Juicy (6.1 percent alcohol by volume, 55 International Bitterness Units) will get its flavor profile from a combination of four fruity hops.

The brewery’s description reads: “Bright citrus and tropical fruit hop aromas lead the way. A light malt foundation provides a platform for Citra, El Dorado, Belma and Azacca tropical and citrus flavors to shine. Mellow bitterness just balances the fruity notes in this hop forward, golden-colored IPA.”

Big Juicy will join No-Li’s flagship Born & Raised IPA in six-packs of 12-ounce cans. Like Born & Raised, it will be produced and packaged at Orlison’s facilities in Airway Heights through a joint agreement between the brewers.

Look for it to reach the market in early April."

Never heard of Belma hops before, anybody taste 'em?

I wonder if the existence of this beer will present a problem for No-Li:

Tacoma Brewing has used them. Kind of a strawberry taste.

I brewed with them before. Very mellow. I did an American wheat with them and even though I used a ton I didn't get as much strawberry flavor as I hoped. In no rush to drink anything with them or use them again.

I'll give it a try when it emerges, though I find most No-Li beers to be pretty "meh."

I didn't even know Three Magnets bottled anything. I'll have to look out for them over the weekend when I'm in Oly.

If your can get your hands on this particular one, Big Juice, do it. This is one of my favorite IPAs of the last year. Three Magnets have had quite a few brews bottled in the last 6 months, starting with some very nice single varietal pale ales and more recently this one and some seasonal ales.

Are their bottles found outside the brewery? I'm thinking especially of the Total Wine that sits near my brothers place.

They had a bottle release kickoff here in Seattle back in mid October. They released a saison, ipa, stout, and IIRC two fresh hop beers, all tasty as hell.

Three Magnets Anniversary Ale is excellent.

Bottleworks has carried most of them and they show up sporadically at other bottle shops; Beer Junction had a tasting and bottles and probably Chuck's had them. I got my bottle of the 1st Anniversary at the frequently surprising QFC in U Village (but they don't seem to carry much depth in Three Magnets, unless it's selling out instantly and I miss them when shopping). I'm guessing distribution is limited and maybe not north of Seattle. Don't know about the TW or BevMo.

Yeah, not to jump on the Three Magnets thread derailment, but they're definitely doing some great stuff. I had Little Juice Smoothie Edition on tap recently, and it was tremendous. Their bottles are relatively easy to find in the PDX area.

Haha derailment is a good description. I just had a grapefruit IPA from No-Li they did for this promotion called Brewsday Tuesday. It was aight. I get pumped on No-Li but they always seem to fall a bit short for me with so many other options available. They do have a new fresh hop sour on tap and it's crazy good
