Hazy or not, the last Be Hoppy i bought (mere days old, straight from the brewery) was a far cry from all Be Hoppy I had had from the old brewery. Dissapointing. (Thought the fresh bottles of Bottle Rocket were not great either). Because of that, I haven't had the itch to go back since, but thought it was just me since I hadn't heard anyone else echo that.

I used to get pints of this at Picco in Boston all the time......rivaled any of the big new england ipas. Wonder if the change has to do with the new equipment are different process?

Totally agree, doesn't seem to be the same IPA it once was.

Went to Pour Richard's in Franklin yesterday and they had a shitload of Wormtown. At least 3-4 cases of Be Hoppy. 2-3 of Blizzard of 78 and 2-3 of Bottle Rocket. And as I was leaving, the truck was bringing in 2 more cases. Seems like there's plenty to go around now.

I was in Great Barrington today and picked up a six of Be Hoppy, which I was happy to find. Got home and realized it was bottled 10/20/15. Does it really sit on the shelves in Great Barrington that long? Guess so. Still tasty though, not regretting it.

New 4 pack bottle holders look cool on FB. Buddahs Juice, Be Hoppiest, and Hopulence. Just disappointed we have not seen anything but Be Hoppy in cans.

Picked up a 6 pack of Be Hoppy bottled 12/28/15. Super disappointed this is not the beer it use to be.

I have heard that a lot about just seeing Be Hoppy in cans. I know what you mean as well. I would rather canned beer as well. But seeing as I work here, I can tell you where and why and all that jazz. So, it boils down to a few things:
    1) We don't have a canning line. If we did, we would can more often and probably other brands outside of Be Hoppy. We use Iron Heart. I don't know exactly what it costs to have them here, but I have heard "It sure as hell isn't cheap".

    2) We DO have a bottling line. I don't need to explain this one. You are no fool.

    3) Marketing. So, I say this because the average consumer (not just "beer folks") will be more apt to buy a six pack of bottles over a 4-pack of cans. That is just the way that it goes. We know that the "beer people" want cans. We get that and we understand. But, with our expansion, we decided it would be an easier way to get our name out there faster to a larger audience. Once we get bigger, you never know, we may put more cans out. (Don't look too deeply into that, I am not implying anything.)

So, hopefully you can see where we are coming from. It isn't that we don't want to do it. It just that, that isn't our business plan right now.

Hot damn, this Blizzard is real tasty, solid beer that's pushed further by the touch of coffee. Nice work!

How did you like the place? (since I sent you there for Singlecut).

It was good. I'll be picking up my Singlecut from there from now on. They had a pretty good selection otherwise too.

Picked up 2 4-packs at the brewery on Friday afternoon. My last Be Hoppy can purchase was probably a year ago...both times I found it to be pretty awesome. Aroma bursting from the can and a sweet mouthfeel. Right there with Santilli for the top spot in the category of "local fresh IPA that requires a moderate level of hunting".

I picked up this batch the other day and it's absolute shit. Hope it's just a random thing.

And one of the bottles didn't even have a label on it

I thought the 12.28 bottles were off too (yeah, I'm doing that thing I hate). Thought maybe it was me, but the freshly-canned batch is tasting great. Hopefully that was a one-time thing.

My six pack from last week is tasting pretty good. The ones I got in late December were definitely off. All in all, for reasons I can't explain since the canning line is temporary and the bottling permanent, it nearly always is better in cans. Better O2 purging perhaps?

I can't recall having a can of Be Hoppy that was anything but great. On the other hand, I've been pretty underwhelmed by the bottles. I've mostly chalked that up to the fact that I'm such a sucker for the pint can format that it clouds my judgment, but perhaps there's something to that...

Last several times I've had Be Hoppy on draft have been major disappointments - with the added bonus of it being either $1 more or shrunk to a tulip (or both - was told that Wormtown recently increased their keg prices 20%) . I'm done with Be Hoppy, too many other IPAs to drink.
