I picked up some fresh bottles too this week. I got a really juicy melon flavor from the first bottle. Good stuff for sure.

I've never had one of the famous East Coast IPAs oft described as juicy. However, having had my first Cellarmaker brew this weekend, I'd feel comfortable calling Permanent Daylight juicy as well as "tremendous." If they canned that sucker, we'd have an SF-based Heady-like rush for releases on our hands.

Good choices, even though these are all from the same brewery( Knee Deep ). The juiciest of those IMO is the Hop Shortage..My fav of those is the Simtra. Some of my favorite IPA's from anywhere here in California.
Track 7 Brewing Co. from Sacto, Ca Left Eye Right Eye has a distinguished juiciness.

I can see some of Knee Deep's stuff being juicy, Simtra being my favorite. I don't think it quite matches the NE profile however. Too high of bitterness and not a characterful yeast. It's still West Coast for sure.

have yet to try Simtra or Hoparillo, hopefully those are even juicier tasting than Lupulin River was.

The one time I had Lupulin River I thought it was an onion bomb and didn't care for it, but people within my circle loved it so it may just be that I'm very sensitive to that characteristic. Simtra is a way better beer IMO and the best that they make.

From Paste: "Oskar Blues released two new, incredible IPAs last year, Pinner, a low ABV session IPA and IPA, which they call a “metamodern IPA.” I love them both, but if I have to pick just one, it’s gotta be IPA. It is everything you’d expect from a modern IPA—juicy, fresh, dank, full of fruit, plenty malty, not that bitter and incredibly satisfying. And it’s year-round, in a can meaning you can have a killer IPA just about anytime, anywhere."

Is there a strong resemblance between Lambo Door and Oskar Blues IPA? I continue to find the term is used by many as a buzz word to describe just about any IPA. I can find the word used to describe many IPAs in reviews on this site which are definitely not "NE style".

    Is Oskar Blues IPA "juicy"?

I had a Cellermaker Tremont St IPA growler last night w friends. Very very good -- cloudy yellow and very rounded bitterness w fair amount of orange and grapefruit juicyness -- seek it out if you can. I would say that's the juiciest west coast IPA I've had.

Agree w you comments -- I probably should have used a word other than "more established" to compare TH and HF to Cellermaker. What I can tell you is w/TH there is a phenomen going on that is unlike any craft beer craze I have seen here in the Northeast. I think in generally TH is brewing on the order of 1000 cases of 16s a week plus growlers and every drop is being sold at the brewery. Someone estimated ballpark gross annual sales in the 8-10m range. Lines like below are now typical. When I went to Cellermaker (granted -- open 7 days a week vs TH brewery sales hrs 4 days a week) -- I didn't get the sense that there was this kind of volume and craze. But to your point -- the variety of IPAs/hoppy ales was certainly there. Somethings gotta give w TH -- it would seem to be a natural situation where they would expand massively given the obvious crazy demand - and the beers are killer good - but I think they are holding the line for now at staying small.

To me, Enjoy By is the perfect balance of juicy and dank. Probably why it's my absolute favorite beer.

Cellarmaker just put out their second batch of Wicked Juicy, which is even better than Tremont. Looking forward to a pint after work today.

No skimping on the bitterness, either!

Do you know how long it typically stays around for? I can't get there this weekend.

Gotta say Enjoy By Unfiltered just took the cake... can't really think of a west coast equivalent in the "juicy" category.

Cellarmaker is awesome, it's my first stop in the Bay Area every time I'm there (about once every 3 months). Drives me insane how far SoCal to SF is.

Yes, it's the perfect balance of everything you could want in an IPA. In about three gulps it became my new favorite Stone beer, one of my top three favorite IPAs, and one of my top beers in general.
