Just got one today, like OMG right!

 

Cabra still available at the pub?

 

Wow, surprised round two lasted this long. A friend picked up a bottle during the first go-round and loved it, so he picked up a second bottle this week. Apparently it's really good, which is why I'm surprised to see bottles still left.

 

and you have it up for trade already?

 

Yes it was available today around 3:30pm at the brewpub.

Haha, had a mule with me to get two, trying to spread the wealth to the Wisco folks!

 

Im done with their brewpub at least. 2 hour lines???? No thanks.

I still buy their stuff on the shelves as long as is reasonable.

 

This is proving that a 35 dollar price tag will keep away a lot of folks.

 

That plus charging that amount for a BA scotch ale, in which the base beer IMO cannot handle any barrel aging.

 

In it's defense. I think it's pretty good, and I don't really care that much for regular ole RtB.

 

I agree for the regular BA version (wouldn't pay for it again), but the berry version I had was fantastic. The berry addition truly made a big difference.

 

I had the BA Robert the Bruce with raspberries on tap during the 15th Anniversary party and it was by far my least favorite ba beer they had on draft that day. I know the barrels are different this time (rye barrels) but is it just raspberries or multiple types of berries?

 

100% agree. I was so pumped to try it too because I love -bal Scotch Ales, but it was very disappointing.

 

that was where I had it as well, but I thought it was great. granted, it was toward the end of the day and my palate may have been a bit wrecked by that point, as I didn't recall the bourbon being strong at all. so who knows...

I believe even tho they just specify "berries" they only used raspberries. but I could be wrong.

 

Remind me to give you a bottle of DL the next time in you're in Chicago for being awesome.

 

Can't believe you didn't like BA Bobby Razz during the 15th (in the 15th's defense, many of us had been drinking at FoBAB and then had multiple pours and bottle sharing before we started in on the taps), but I had it a few times last year and loved it.

Thought Cabra was equally as good, and while some thought the Rye / Bourbon barrel made a lot of difference, I was of the mind that they were very similar.

Nice to see that some of these limited releases aren't selling out the day of, will be interested to see what comes out next.
