It´s incredible for me how quickly the craft beer culture has grown in Mexico in the past year. Last january it was very hard to find imported beer here, a few belgians and some german hefes were easy to get, a fresh IPA? Never, we got illegal Stone and Sierra Nevada IPAs with at least 8 months after bottling, and the ones available were very expensive. Now I can buy this stuff right at my neighborhood´s mini market.

Right know almost every local brewery offers at least one kind of IPA, and now they´re beggining to use experimental hops and stuff like that. Not a single one brews sours. How long do you think it will take to have some mexican sours available in the market?

    Cheers!

Are you sure your haul is not a sign of an increase in illegal availability?

I´m not sure at all, but illegal beers here are soooo expensive, and those in the pic were in very affordable prices. I know for a fact that there´s a licensed distributor of Old Rasputin in Mexico, but the others I´m not sure.

Viva Mas Variedad!! I'm happy to hear that the beer culture is growing in Mexico. I haven't been in over 10 years, but now I look forward to having some geat beers with great food when I do go back.

As for your sour question. I would think a lot of people in Mexico would be very open to a lot of the range of flavors in sours. But, a lot of sours are so expensive.

I was in Cancun last summer and the only American beer I even found was in a store in a mall, and I know I'll get rotten veggies thrown at me for saying this, but when I'm in Mexico the last thing I want to drink is American craft beer. I'd love to try Mexican craft beer, though. And I know Cancun is a horrible example because it's basically Americanized from the tourism industry, but still. I actually had a great time trying Mexican beers I don't have access to here in the states. *wipes rotten tomatoes and cabbage from self*

Well said! Unfortunately 'Mexican craft beer' will just be (or is) essentially American 'styles' (or 'styles' that are fashionable in America) ...The uncritical acceptance of so much American culture worldwide is somewhat saddening...

The last time i was in Boulder I just missed the brewery doing Mexican style beers. The brewer from the old Oasis was starting up a new brewery to make Mexican style beers. I was told chili ,chocolate, craft lagers etc. I am guessing it would be like 5 Rabbit. I would think there would be a brewery like this in Mexico at some point.

    Enjoy
