Sofie was a "holy shit" beer for me. As in "holy shit these guys can brew". Awesome brew.

Always good to have another solid Saison as an option, especially one available in a 12oz bottle. From my experience traveling to states with GI distribution it seems to be fairly widely available too.

I don't think they can make KH again. I believe they used all the Rare Barrels to make the first batch of KH. They said no more Rare, so therefore one would assume no more KH.

I'd be plenty happy with BCBCS. :grinning:

And their Christmas Beer is actually pretty damn nice.

If I need more Juliet or Lolita, I'll trade for it. It's not near as hard to get as the BCBS stuff.

Anybody know if their IPA is solid?

It's very much an English-style IPA, pretty toned down. A well-made beer, but I don't think I'd ever buy it over Torpedo or Modus Hoperandi.

I'll be pretty pleased to get Honkers Ale down here. Can't have too many beers with good flavor at near-session strength.

So are you guys still going to still support them after selling out to the big evil company? I have never tried any of their beer but even if it is good, and I can find something I enjoy that is local compared to their beer, I don't think I could support them.

I generally feel the same way, though I'll make exceptions for BCBS, Juliet, and Lolita if they ever show up in TX. I may try the core brands just for the sake of trying them, but I don't have high expectations. I tried 312 before the Inbev takeover and was pretty underwhelmed by it.

Yes. Especially if it means a Goose Island option in a bar/restaurant where the selection was previously limited to BMC products. I don't hate Budwieser I just think they make low quality beer. From what I have had, the quality of Goose Island's beer has not changed since the buy out.

BCBS is one of the ones that blew my mind. I don't care if it's the devil handing me the beer if it's that good.

Hell yes. Every dollar that winds its way to AB In-Bev through Goose Island is a very real vote for good beer.

King Henry came out after the AB-Inbev takeover. AB-Inbev pumping money into making more BCBS than ever is not a problem. Don't see how any of this is a problem.

I do my best to avoid BMC brews but I would def. try GI if/when they come to Tx.

Well I've never had Goose Island. I would purchase it to try it, but just some of the antics that AB uses in order to grow bigger makes me not want to support them. Like for instance, the way they had bounties in Houston out for No Label taps. They were paying bars $100 to remove a No Label Tap and replace it with an AB product..

That's an anti-competitive practice, and is illegal. Intel paid AMD $1.25B for very similar actions.

So, why hasn't No Label filed suit?

I'm not sure why they haven't buy it's not the first time I've heard of AB doing that. I even came upon an article in the Houston Chronicle that talked about them doing that to No Label. No Label was self distributing for a while but I know they got a distributor once all that happened because they couldn't fight them alone.

AB In Bev bought the brewery and oversees some of the business but they definitely have little to no impact on the brewing process and every day activities of Goose Island. I don't really care that they own it honestly, it hasn't effected the beer quality at this point.

If it was a support your local business thing I guess I can understand where you are coming from but it seems like you are concerned with the business practices of the brewery which they are not responsible for but rather the AB distributors and AB inbev as a larger whole.
