If you were being honest, do you think MI IPAs are in the same conversation as NE IPAs?

In style, no. Just different, and much easier to attain. I've learned to appreciate that.

Not sure any of theirs would crack my top ten.

    2-hearted
    DRIPA
    Double Crooked Tree

Given all the votes for DRIPA, I'm surprised nothing for TRIPA. I thought TRIPA was much better, but not close to my top 3.

Interesting. Most of my friends who live in MI, and love IPAs are blown away by NE IPAs when they have them.

Without any doubt, yes. I have only had a few NE IPAs, but they are probably the most hyped ones, and while they are very good, I don't see them being any better that the best from Michigan.

I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum here. For me it's the equivalent of U of M vs. the New England Patriots.

Is it even worth playing the game?

Sleeper Cell is delicious. My favorite Founder's IPA, and it's not even close.

That being said- from what I've sampled, so far, my favorite 3 are-

    Huma Lupa Licious
    The Oracle
    DRIPA

That's just because the Alchemist is just going to cheat and Bell's is going to claim that they didn't actually lose, they just ran out of time.

    Couldn't agree more.

IMHO, most MI IPAs are more malt-forward vs most NE IPAs being more hop/flora forward. The NE IPA mouth-feel and taste dwarf most MI IPAs for me.

My hope is that at least one MI brewer will follow the NE IPA style and brew one locally for us.
