We are happy to introduce our first Backstage Series beer of 2016: Mango Magnifico con Calor! The release of Mango Magnifico will mark the 15th installment in our popular Backstage Series and it will be the second time Mango Magnifico has graced the stage, the first time being in 2013.

Mango Magnifico is a high-gravity fruit beer brewed with mango and a touch of habaneros to add just the right amount of heat. The delicate flavors imparted by the sweet richness of the mango are punctuated perfectly by the subtle heat of the habaneros, proving that fruit beers do not have to be one-note. Each 750mL bottle of this 10% ABV ale is both sophisticated and refreshing, making it the perfect beer to share… or to keep all to yourself. Mango Magnifico will have a suggested retail price of $10.99 and will be available across our distribution footprint beginning March 1, 2016.

When we first released Mango Magnifico back in 2013, it proved to be somewhat of an enigma to our fans. A high-gravity mango beer brewed with habaneros? What the heck? It took some time to catch fire (pun intended), but once it did, the beer enthusiast community was very vocal about it returning. So, we listened and are so thrilled to bring it back!

Mango Magnifico is part of a long lineage of Founders’ fruit beers, including Rubaeus, Cerise, Blushing Monk and Big Lushious.

Our Backstage Series is made up of boundary-pushing, experimental beers. We affectionately call it “the brewers’ playground,” where intent is to take the diehard Founders fan experience to a wider audience—though all of the beers are released in limited batches. Since its introduction in the summer of 2011, our Backstage Series beers have quickly become some of the most sought-after releases in the industry.

My lowest score ever on a beer review was this beer, can't say I'll be keeping my eyes out for it.

While I did enjoy this the first time around it is the standard dowtrend that has become this series with the exception of Project PAM.

I really liked this one. Not mind blowing by any means, but definitely tasty. Will be trying it again for sure.

I actually enjoyed this one. Thought it struck a nice balance between sweet and spicy. Habanero's do hit you in the back of the throat like they always do.

Founders must be having some problems with the Backstage series if they have to re-release a previous beer that IMO was not that good begin with. I can see this release keeping company with all those bottles of Blushing Monk and Big Luscious I see on floors and shelves whenever I go to shop at some of my local stores. The last Backstage beer I really enjoyed was Sweet Repute and I have also tried Project Pam which was Better than some of the previous releases.

It is a shame as Founders was one of my gateway brewers into the craft beer world but these days I am seeing Founders beers ( Backwoods Bastard, Imperial Stout, Harvest Ale, to name a few) just sit on shelves and collect dust. I still buy and drink Founders beers although a little more selectively as there are other newer brewers coming to market that get what people are looking for.

If you want to re-release a Backstage beer why not Better Half, CBS, Frangelic Mountain Brown or maybe bring back Nemesis in a large bottle format.

Good Luck Founders with future Backstage releases and hopefully I will be waiting in line for the next one as I have for releases in the past ( just not this one ).

    Cheers

Nice! Another $15 saved! Was actually excited for this the first time but not a good beer imho. Their company, their choice but another backstage I'm gonna pass on. On a positive note I will keep buying the great 6'ers like Azzaca and mosaic promise along with their great staple beers.

How about CBS in bottles or Better Half? Or maybe something new, like an Imperial Stout with Habaneros and Mangos? This is not a very good beer and it was released less than 3 years ago, not 10. This makes very little sense to me. And if you do want to bring it back, why not do it as a seasonal in 4-pack format. Something's definitely going on at Founders.

I remember drinking nearly five of these at the release in 2013. I never thought I would see this in bottles again but I'm stoked!

Never got to try it, so I'll give it a go this time. I'll agree it's an odd choice, but anyone expecting back-to-back BA releases with Project PAM is dreaming. Hopefully once their new cellar facility is finished, but right now that's not the most realistic expectation.

I think this series is getting a little boring.

I will say with a little bit of age, this beer became a lot more drinkable, but I wasn't a huge fan. It sat on the shelves in southwest Ohio for a while, so I'm not sure where the demand is.

I'm excited to see this again. I wasn't as into the scene when it came out originally as I am now. I've had it on multiple occasions and enjoyed it each time.

I'm wondering if this isn't the future of the Backstage Series. This is the second year running that has started with a re-release. Will future years also provide a second chance for a past offering?

I think I would be willing to give it a try. I still have not tried a beer with any chili pepper influence. Sounds like an interesting addition to a cold beer. Love my spicy food!

I liked this beer a lot one of the few "pepper beers" I really enjoyed, will definitely keep any eye out.

    I beg to differ.
    Please provide reference.

I am a huge proponent of the Backstage Series. When everyone else is talking shit and passing on bottles, I'm buying them up and looking for opportunities to acquire the older stuff to revisit...

But this one was a very clear miss for me. I'm bummed they are making it again.
