Don't mean to make fun, but I think it's been roughly 3 years since I first read the announcement that Founder's was planning to distribute in Maryland. Their Facebook page even indicated at one point that they hoped to have bottles and kegs available by 4/13.

For that matter, I still have an email from Casey at Max's, advising me that they expected to host the release kick off, probably sometime in 7/13.

    Still waiting...

I like that they are expanding without having sold out. Selling a minority stake in the company may be a good model for other craft brewers.

Great news, but doubtful it gets beyond Michigan borders if they are offering to employees first and then sending out what's left. Or maybe it's part of the new backstage series and is released in the spring...

Finally got them in San Diego! Considering the quality of founder's, I didn't think the cost would be as low as it is. 11 dollars for a 4 pack of backwoods bastard? Holy cow!

Glad they're expanding, they are one of my favorite breweries!

Every state on the east coast gets Founders but West Virgina, Maryland and Delaware! WTF! Even Washington DC gets it!

Seeing as how everyone else is 'hoping' up a fuckin storm, I HOPE this isn't a sign of what we saw with other BIG breweries that got a percentage bought out.

Not that I care, because I support a brewery even after it is bought, but I love Founders and hope they stay true to their guns!

I have another question, but I don't want to start another thread.

Is Backwoods Bastard that much better than Dirty Bastard? I'm asking this because stores have DB for $8.99 and BB $10 more for a 4 pack ($18.99).

I vastly prefer Backwoods over Dirty Bastard.

No. I prefer DB over BB even before factoring in the price difference but I'm in the minority. Backwoods has always been a booze bomb to me but I haven't had it in over a year. I've gone through two cases of Dirty Bastard since then. No real interest in Backwoods at this point unless I happen to stumble upon a great deal.

Backwoods to me tastes like nothing but bourbon -- weak bourbon, but bourbon nonetheless. I can't taste any semblance of beer in it. Dirty Bastard is pretty boozy to me too, but still tastes much more complex than Backwoods. I won't be buying Backwoods again, and I'm glad that the 4-pack I bought was a lot cheaper than it is in California.
