Hunahpu Day 2016

Those flying in, how do you guys bring your 8 bottles home? Ship them or suitcases? I feel like 8 bottles of hunahpu is going to be more than 1 suitcase by weight. Shipping stores will wont be open on Sunday either, which might be a problem to ship.

 

Depends on your suitcase. If you have a lightweight hardshell, it's doable. I bought one such suitcase with the intent of using it to bring beer home when I travel. With nothing else in it besides beer, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts, I've traveled with 10 large bottles (750mL) and had it under 50 lbs.

 

Or take a 12-bottle shipper with you. A 12-bottle shipper full of 750s comes in at 47-48 lbs.

Order one of these in to the local Uhaul and pick it up....I have used these for 12 750 growlers from HF a few times....always under 50 lbs. That way you can pick up 4 of the new 110K + OT Batch 8 at Total Wine.....delish double IPA.

Good advice on the uhaul box. Bad advice on the 100k batch 8 purchase - at $16+ per 22oz bottle it is one of the most mediocre and overpriced double ipas I've ever had. I'd rather drink day old Jai Alai and 2 cans of that (24oz) will run you like $4 tops.
edit: also note that Batch 8 released on Dec 24th 2015 and will be long gone come mid-March - if you are gonna buy an overpriced DIPA, cross your fingers that Brews Banner from Coppertail is out around Huna Day - at least that one is tasty.

 

Couldn't agree with this more. One of my least favorite beers from CCB.

 

You guys are tough to please but you are right that it was surprisingly pricey. Oh well, the one I had was tasty. Cheers.

 

I wouldn't be too sure of it being long gone by March. As of last month, the ABC on Gandy still had bottles of CCB's Tampa Bay Beer Week DIPA from last year (which came out at the end of February.) And they were still full price.

 

Hope they do this one again

 

I really enjoyed the TBBW DIPA and it was $9 a bottle.

Just wish they'd go to 16oz cans for their doubles and charge $15-18 per 4pk (like so many other amazing breweries.)

 

Yeah I agree.. They had the gwar beer in the 16 oz cans

Every BA Huna starts as BA Zhukov. Do you just prefer the adjuncts?
