Asahi that's brewed in Japan is an excellent shelf beer. I cannot say the same about it's Canadian brewed counterpart. The same goes with Japanese brewed Kirin Ichiban.

For Mexican beers, Negra Modelo is a well known secret as one of the tastiest macro shelf lagers, but it's not really as cheap as it should be (it's close to old school craft levels at about $8/6er).

I've also always been fond of a good old Labatt Blue if I'm at a dirty bar with nothing else going on (if their is no craft, I'll do a Labatt in otherwords).

And of course, since it's so popular to hate on them, Sam Adams Boston Lager is an extremely solid brew that's readily available for under $14/12pk.

Nothing like a Grain Belt Premium or Nordeast, especially when doing some Viking football or Minnesota Gopher football tailgating!

Toña from Nicaragua and Estrella Damm from Spain are the two best AAL beers I have ever had. Only problem is at $9.99 a sixer, Id rather have SN Torpedo.

Pabst also gets a special mention of course. Natty Daddy is pretty proper at 99¢ for a tall boy of 8% beer. Better than the other Natural offerings.

Miller High Life. It's so thin and watery that it doesn't taste bad or offensive in the slightest. It tastes like carbonated water, or perhaps a bit like Sprite. It's not good by any means but you can casually swig down bottle after bottle without noticing.

I took an "oil can" of Foster's to a bottle share one time and wound up drinking just about all of it myself. Once I poured it into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass, the aroma and flavor really popped.

    Never discount #ProperGlassware!

I've had Heineken on tap and it wasn't half bad. I think it's mostly those skunky green bottles that ruin the beer.

Hamm's is definitely still around and at times there seems to be a deliberate distribution drive in certain pockets. It just started popping up here a couple of years ago again, after not been around for a few years.

I did not realize they put corn syrup in their beer, do you have a link to an article/source?

Can't link right now, but it's the miller Coors website. It lists ingredients for all their beers. Nice and upfront anyway.

Pabst Blue Ribbon is my go to for casual drinking, although I've been known to enjoy Budweiser in bottles, Heineken, Stella and a few others. Recently, though, I've begun trying Rolling Rock again. I had it on tap and it was absolutely flat and terrible. I remember having a single 473ml can of it a year or so ago and I don't recall it being that offensive. I prefer bottles, however and have to drive a little bit to another store to get 12pks in bottles, but it's worth it. Had it last weekend and it was really good for a few beers with the buddies. I think it'll probably be my go-to beer from now on.
