"We've got a new beer for you today, "Jerry" Porter! It's a 6.1% American porter served on nitro! Should he have been on the field? Idk, but I do know this should go on your belly. No growlers because of the nitro. We open at 3!"

I'm not crazy about Fat Head's's branding or vibe, either, but if I'm there it's to (1) drink beer, (2) socialize, & (3) eat. It's not an art gallery.

EDIT: And I kind of hear what they're saying about the food. The default to huge portions of fatty, starchy foods (which is by no means unique to FH) actually pisses me off sometimes. But you ought to know what you're getting into - the place is called "Fat Head's".

Is anyone going to the Rivertowne Hibernation Party this weekend? Looks like a solid lineup of their rare beer collection....which i didnt know they even had.....but the Schloppy and headless on oak spirals has my attention along with the sours and ba maple scottish. Unfortunately I will have to hit up cigar city this weekend due to Florida trip!
    Rare beer lineup:
    nitro all aboard stout
    bourbon barrel maple scottish ale
    barrel aged all aboard stout
    barrel aged rudolphs red
    wood aged Headless Wylie
    wood aged Schloppy monster
    grape and grain
    apple sour

I was excited about this & the fact that advance tickets were only $20, & then found out that it's from 10am-3pm. Cannot do.

Man that was a fun thread. I had many posts deleted in that one. Mostly Hipster memes.

    Hey everyone,

I'm mainly a lurker, but have met a number of you at various bottle shares and releases in the past. I wanted to chime in on the PNW talk because I recently moved from Pittsburgh to Seattle (for the 2nd time).

I'm not much of a trader, more of a wait-in-liner, but I would be happy to send over some care packages or do some simple trades with all of the crazy beer out here. Feel free to reach out and let me know. For example, Abyss Cognac came and went in a few hours, but I was able to snag a few bottles of Peche n Brett. Limited release Firestone, Deschutes, Fremont, Pelican, Almanac, Alaskan sit on shelves here.

RE: IPAs out this way. I'm definitely a BG lover and spent 2+ nights a week there, but the sheer number of amazing everyday IPAs out here is insane. I went to a fresh hop event in September that had 65 different fresh hop beers on. Generally, Oregon IPAs beat out Washington's by a great margin, IMO.

    For hoppy stuff:
WA: Holy Mountain (like Draai Laag and BG had an amazing kid), Stoups, Reubens, Bale Breaker, Cloudburst (from the guy that made every good Elysian beer), Fremont, and Georgetown to name a few
OR: Boneyard, Ft. George, Breakside, pFriem, Crux, Block 15; and Barley Brown, Gigantic, Double Mountain to a lesser extent
And a ton more breweries that make sours, stouts, and other non-hoppy stuff.

RE: Fatheads, I know that at least 2 staff from Pittsburgh went out there originally. Not sure if they're still there. But, I'm not surprised that the Oregon treehuggers are haters in general because to me it just feels like a blue collar Pittsburgh bar. Another example, Great Notion is a new NE IPA style brewery in Portland that everyone is hating on because "it's not West Coast style." I find that funny and think that sums up the general attitude out here.

Have access to great beer, will send. Hit me up!

    ~Matt
