I'd argue that it's impossible to have an all-time great selection of beers without draft as many beers are only available on draft.

I've never went to a bar because of the bottle list.

I don't usually choose a restaurant over beer selection

I drink bottled and canned beer at home. When I go out, I almost always go for a draft beer.

True, some places keep old beer on draft. That is why I generally stick to a small handful of reliable places where I know the taps rotate regularly.

This is pretty much the situation in Utah. All draft pours are 4%. Therefore I stick with mainly bottles and cans with few exceptions. Of course I run the risk of getting old beer but what choice do I have?

My dream is to open The Suds Factory, a beer bar with nothing but draft & CANs for sale. We would use waterless urinals and have a tiny carbon footprint. Recycling would be paramount.

If that's the case, ditch the lil cans and go draught only.

CAN't do that. The proposed location is directly across from the local minor-league ballpark so I need take-away CANs available. Plus, the CANs will offer a greater depth & breadth of selection.

Bottle-only is fine if they have glasses. Pint glasses at the very least. A nice bottle selection is nothing if they expect you to drink it out of the bottle or offer you a paper soda cup.

Of course it isn't impossible. If Kulminator got rid of their taps, I doubt they'd be any less of a legend.

I rarely go for a bottled beer at a restaurant unless a. the draught list sucks. or b. the bottle options are pretty special, Cantillon, FW BA beers, BCBS, etc.

Also, if I'm at a restaurant or bar, I will NEVER get a hop forward beer if it's in a bottle. I'm not taking my chances of paying 6-10 bucks for something that may very well be way past it's prime.

Since I only drink bottles/cans at home, I will always order a draft while out.

Haven't given it much thought until this post. Restaurant, I usually don't care. In bars I tend to order draft. Though one place in Florida was a coffee bar during the day and (mainly) a bar at night. They had a few drafts, but also a ton of bottles. All various sizes, makes and models. I really enjoyed the experience and didn't think twice about it until I read this thread.

Same here. If the restaurant doesn't have any drafts, I'll always order wine.

It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure it would be a place I would frequently visit.

I've always thought a bar with a bottle/can vending machine behind the bar would be a pretty cool idea.

Eh, I don't know if we need that. Kegged and carbonated beer are much more consistent and has greater longevity than cask ale.

I have been at the Tasty Weasel (which is Oskar Blues main taproom) and it seems like they flush the lines with water (or something?) every day. I am not sure how common that is but seems like a good sign.

I pretty much drink the same way in general. If I want something I always check dates but when in doubt I find a seasonal. Cheers
