Notable Releases - DC/NOVA/MD

I guess I shouldn't go by their website then. I don't see why you'd have an "on tap" section on your site if you're not going to keep it updated, that's just confusing for customers.

 

They've come a long way since opening. A Small Town Ontario and Orange Starfish were both very good. Both worth seeking out.

 

Good to know, I'll give them another try sometime soon. Any idea what the charge for growler fills?

 

I commented on Aslin before (one of the Ocelot guys recommended I check them out) but since I've been there a couple times since here's my update.

I've only had their stouts. Their Deceiver is VERY similar to Founders Imperial and IMO Deceiver is better (I filled up a growler of Deceiver the Thursday before this weekend's Blizzard; so I literally had one right after the other). I also had Aslin's Mexican Stout, which is similar to Abraxas/Westbrook Mexican Cake. I've never had Mexican Cake but I do think Aslins's Mexican stout was better than the '15 Abraxas.

Regular Abyss (maybe a case?) and Dogfish Immort Ale at TW McLean.

 

The two breweries closest to me don't keep an updated tap list on their website or facebook page. They use social media regularly if not daily and can't take a picture of their chalk board when things change. I rarely go these breweries anymore.

Do you know how many variants Conn Ave got? At this point I'm sure I'm out of luck, but I figured I'd ask...

 

I agree, they should be posting a tap list every few days or at a minimum with any change (new beer added or beer no longer available). Especially a brewery like Ocelot who doesn't have a core set of beers and there seems to always be something new being added. The last time they posted a photo of the chalkboard was December 30, pretty lazy if you ask me...they've added at least 2 new beers since then and who knows what beers are no longer available.

I dont, sorry. They had them sitting on the corner of the check out counter. They had (I think) three of each sitting there. I grabbed one Rye, but there were two guys that came in right after me that were talking about it, and pointed them out while I was checking out.

No harm in calling though, they could have gotten a whole case, but only set out a couple.

 

WF Clarendon says they get Abyss tomorrow.

I was there an hour ago and they said they were out of variants. They have a lot of regular, but at $19.99.

 

TW Alexandria has about 30 bottles of the regular Abyss.

 

Has anyone seen Abyss at Giant or Harris Teeter? 1) I am 99% sure I got an Abyss at Harris Teeter last year. 2) The supermarkets carry the Black Butte Porter Anniversary version bomber. Doubt they will have the variants, though.

Have you tried TW Alexandria? Could have sworn they had 10 or so on the floor earlier this week.
