Ha, funny you're mentioning this. Im headed to Pittsburgh(about to board flight) and will be going to Fat Heads right from airport with one of my co-workers. I'll ask about bottles and report back.
Last year they had bottles and cases of JuJu at the taphouse for a few weeks if I recall correctly. Not really a huge deal to get there on the day release or the day after. It's popular, but they make quite a bit.
It was in grocery stores for over a month after! I got a good chuckle everytime I saw it thinking about all the people that lined up an hour plus early in sub degree temps to get their case. Probably be the same scene this year and I'll drop in an hour before close and grab some with no wait.
@RayOhioFelton Same here... A shop I go to had JuJu in the cooler for at least, kid you not, 4-6 months after release. Granted I wouldn't buy any at that age, it looked liked nobody else did either! I think I stopped in like two days after release last year and walked in, grabbed a case, put it in my car, came back in and had a few on draft. No waiting required!
Cool, last year I drove out 2 hours on release day after work to get my case. Walked right in picked up my case, enjoyed a pint and then drove 2 hours back home.
In Cincinnati, Cappys is releasing it on 2/20/2016. I bought about 4-4 packs last year. I figure I'll do the same this year. It's probably my favorite DIPA.
In Pittsburgh, I was seeing 4pks on the shelf of my local store for probably a good 6 weeks after release. I got tired of seeing them one day and bought up the rest they had.
If you wait till a hour before close it won't be fresh. It can't be more than 12hrs fresh. Otherwise there is a huge drop off on the hop profile.
Seriously bro, it's Malt Juju at that point. I heard after that 12th hour post bottling Craft Beer Freshness Police kick down your door, confiscate your bottles, and drain pour them in front of you.
Actually you are both way off. You have to obtain the ingredients and ingest them before the beer is even made. By the time the beer is done it falls off from what it was ever suppose to be!
