Two of my favorites overall. A local burger joint has Hefeweissbier on tap, one of their bestsellers. On more than one occasion I picked up the last six pack from a local vendor. Bottom line is these beers seem to be appreciated locally.

You may have set a record for largest difference in overall rating between the beer glass and the beer itself inside the glass.

That's a thing? I think I could do very well at that game...

I would love to finally have the elusive Andechs but will honour the thread with a late night Korbinian. What´s the problem with labeling then? I am assuming the doppelbock has a best by date of one year like the rest, so this one would be pretty fresh. But maybe i am wrong. Also not clear in recent conversations if doppelbocks age better than others. The only sure thing is i am not to age this one for a minute. Cheers!

Their Hefeweizen is still the best example of the style that I've been able to find. The other beers I've had from them are great examples of their respective styles. I wish I saw their beers more often than I do. Whenever I see the Hefe on tap, I have to order one.

This makes me want to go buy a case of the Hefeweissbier this weekend.

Vitus is amazing. It's like their Hefeweissbier on steroids. I was ecstatic to see it in six-packs locally for the first time today... then a little less excited when I used the secret decoder ring provided by @JackHorzempa and realized they were bottled during the 11th week of 2015. Probably would have still been good, but I think I'll wait until some fresher bottles arrive.

Every beer that they make is the standard for it's style.

A few years ago, when the only American craft beer to be found in WV was Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada, Weihenstephaner provided me an introduction to some of the best beers in the world. I still buy their variety pack on occasion, and always buy bottles of their Hefe in the summer.

Is that an actual Weihenstephan glass, or a specially branded Teku glass?

Clearly one of the best breweries of all time. Top 5.

Either this is new and the message has been received by Weihenstephan, or the export bottles to Spain have better labeling.

The last 6 pack of Original I saw, here in Illinois, had a confusing jumble of numbers, not a clear date. Hope that's changing.

Sometimes I hate the dating like that. Because I've noticed some European breweries will use European dating, and others will use US dating for export.

So, in the picture above, "13.01.17" is clear. January 13th, 2017. Because there is no 13th month in the year. But if it was say, "08.01.16" that could mean a variety of things.

It could be "best by" August 1st, 2016 or "best by" January 8th, 2016. Or, it could even be the actual bottling date, January 8th, 2016. Obviously it couldn't be bottled on August 1st, 2016, unless Weihenstephan has figured out time travel. Something I wouldn't rule out given their ability to export bottles in decent shape better than most European breweries. They could be magicians, I'm not entirely certain.

One way around that is a month abbreviation but of course you need to be careful how you pick you abbreviations if you aren't willing to use three letters. MA for May is ambiguous unless already I know you are using MR for March, MY is a better abbreviation.

Thanks steveh, i thought i wasn´t getting it right. And considering your love for this beer i have to say this one was beautiful, i didn´t have a Korbinian for a while and it was near perfect indeed. Being such a malt bomb it felt a bit too sweet for my taste maybe (first doppel in months too), but the freshness and overall perfection paid off. So tasty and drinkable. I will buy a few more from this batch for sure, a bargain at less than two euros. World class, as anything from them.
