Unless you don't live in this country, how is it even possible to never have had SNPA? :grimacing:

If we are talking strictly classics, mine would be:

    Duvel
    Chimay
    Speedway Stout
    Storm King/DirtWolf/HopDevil
    DFH 60/90
    Old Stock Ale
    Founders Centennial

I'm kind of shocked at what is being called "classic". Heady Topper? BCBS? Westy XII? To me a classic a generally available beer that has been around and stood the test of time for a long time. Beers like Sam Lager, SNPA, Duvel, Chimay Blue, Pilsner Urquel, Weihenstephnaner Hefe Weisbier, Anchor Steam, 60 minute etc. Not having something you can't get at the store...that doesn't tell us anything. So I'd read the question more to what long lived, widely available popular beer have you just never tried?

I can't really think of an American one I've missed. I've passed on Avery Maharajah. Never tried it.

I drove down to Delaware to buy a ‘brick’ of Westvleteren 12 a few years ago when some of that beer was distributed to the US (it was not sent to my home state of PA). When I got to the store I was told they sold the last ‘brick’ ½ hour ago. Bummer.

Hopefully Westvleteren 12 will send some more beers to the US in the future?

    Cheers!

It may sound cliched but, so many beers and so little time. Oh, the tortures of being a BA!

There's only one classic I have yet to try; CCB Huna (regular). I am happy regardless because I've pissed out some of the Best Beer this Planet has to offer.

My friend and former co-worker who moved to Germany sent me 4 bottles of Westy XII and 2 bottles of Westy 8 last week. I have had Westy 12 one time previous, thanks to the awesome generosity of member "justlovebeer" on this website. Phenominal. Now I get to knock Westy 8 off the list, which was my next most wanted. Probably tonight!

My first thought when I read this was of Pliny. I have never had the Elder or the Younger, both must be considered classics.

Westy 12 is the only one I'm bummed I haven't been able to have yet.

But any "off the shelf" classics, I think I've covered them all.

maybe cliche, but so very true... I've been drinking beer much longer than I've been tracking it or participating in this forum, but there are still dozens (hundreds?) of 'classics' I've yet to try.

I actually think thats a good thing, variety being the spice of life and all

Almost none of the frequent mentions from Ohio and points east (Great Lakes, Heady Topper, Trillium).
CO distro is heavily CO beers with a bunch of west coast stuff and some of the "biggies" from the east. But nothing cultish.
Someday I'll get a road trip into VT, and NC, respectively, at least.

I've never had Old Rasputin. Not sure why, just never drank it.

Of beers highly regarded on this site, out of the top 50 I've only had CBS, KBS, Zombie Dust, Parabola and Psuedo Sue, so, yeah, all 44 of those other ones...

Gotta get me some PtE, maybe a Cantillon sour (not a huge sour guy, so I'm not too worried there), Westy 12, maybe a DBH? I've checked most of the stuff I really wanted (Rare 1.0, CBS, Heady, ZD, etc.) off my list, so I don't care as much about whale chasing anymore.

I'm still looking for Gandhi Bot (now known as G-Bot). It has eluded me for quite some time.

If you have the means, I would use Belgiuminabox.com to order some Westy XII. I used them and had a good experience. In all honesty, it is a very very good beer, but readily available beers such as Rochefort 10 and St Bernardus ABT 12 are right there in terms of quality. If you don't want to spend the money and go through the hassle to obtain Westy XII, those two beers are comparable.
