Jackie O's brews great beer and the people that run the brewery are people you don't mind giving your money to... that goes a long way.

I don't care what they do or don't trade for, because that game is based on hype and rarity more than anything else and I figured that out years ago.

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, your opinion is perfectly fine, but Jackie O's will remain one of my favorite breweries in the world as long as Brad continues to do what he's been doing for years.

I enjoy what both Jackie O's and Hoppin' Frog do, for the most part. I'm not a fan of Hoppin' Frog releasing only bomber bottles, and I'm disappointed that I can't get Jackie O's Scottish ale on a regular basis in Cincy, but they're hardly bad breweries.

I think the Hoppin' Frog trade value being lower may have something to do with the fact that I see almost the entire BORIS / DORIS lineup on shelves at various Binny's locations every time I'm in Chicagoland to visit my girlfriend's family. I'd assume other states also see their BA stuff - so plenty of folks can get their hands on it to try or to trade themselves. Supply is fairly high. I've only ever seen Jackie O's stuff in Ohio.

Disclaimer - I don't trade, so I couldn't actually speak to how well either actually trades.

This may be due to the difference in time in the barrel. Correct me if I'm off but to my understanding Hoppin Frog does about 3 months in a barrel for their regular stuff compared to 9-12 for say barrel aged dark app. Who cares if your opinion isn't popular! Appreciate you sharing it even if it isn't along the exact lines I think. It's what makes this beer game fun is discussing openly our thoughts on different beer.

First sentence says it all. I'm a bit old School when it comes to the money I have worked for. One bad experience will keep me from allowing another and to stay on the positive side Jackie O's employees from the bartender getting slammed during a release party to Brad handing out bottles in line have always been super nice in my experience.

They released a Boris Van Wink a few years back on black Friday that was rumored to be in pappy barrels but Fred would never confirm that to my understanding. It traded great and I got beers I'd never otherwise get to try. Then I opened a bottle and to me, it was BA Boris with a different label. Perhaps it's suppose to be like that or I don't have a refined enough palate to taste the pappy barrel but I felt really bad for the trades I had made and started adding it as an extra to boxes.

To their credit the Boris in the Jameson or whiskey barrels or whatever it was confirmed as was my favorite cause of the distinct differences I could pick out.

You can practically buy a 3 year vertical of BA boris off the shelves in PA.

Having had several vintages of BA Boris and having had Boris Van Wink, I completely and totally disagree. Van Wink, at 6 months, was more than a noticeable difference. Far smoother, better barrel character, and just a better beer. Would I trade half my cellar to acquire one? Nope, because there is better BB beers in Ohio for the money (BA Ink, BB Dark App, BA Siberian Night, to name but a few).

Also, FWIW, I wanted to try the Jameson one, and never got to. Oh well, there's more beer out there in the world

    Cheers!

The Jameson one is the best beer Hoppin' Frog has ever made (in my opinion, of course)

Bairille Aois BORIS. Picked up a bottle at the brewery for the rootin-tootin low price of $50. Had it on draft while there--quite good (as was the Van Wink and #200).

Oh man. It tasted really good at $14 for a bottle. I don't do those 401Karm prices!

Ha! Little did you know I'm an idiot. I'd be very happy with it at $14/bottle. Otherwise, Infusion B was surprisingly excellent (I figured it would be good to very good), and Infusion A was top-notch. Those, though, were reasonably priced!

Thankfully, I only have 2 more payments on the finance agreement for the Bairille.

I liked Infusion A a lot. Sadly, I am on a full-blown Hoppin' Frog boycott because of Fred's business practices. Some may call that silly, and that is fine!

Looks like the Butcher and the brewery realesed 'Big Belgo Burboun Poppa'. Any one tried it?

Yeah, it was OK. Not worth $15 for a bomber IMO. Not a terrible price by any means. I'd just rather have my $15.

Jackie O's cuvée 10 was fantastic. Their sour program is excellent as well. I'm not sure when their next bottle release is but I've had a great time the two times I've been down there. The beers were worth the 7 hour round trip drive I had to put in to get them. I personally think they're the best in Ohio, even if it takes some serious effort to get their really good stuff. Oh, and the Berliners are amazing.

Plutonium Nyborg? that's pretty much the best beer name I've heard yet.. I certainly haven't heard that n at least 20 years.. since I last saw the movie. If it's bottled or can'd, I would pay a lot for just one as a keeper
