9am for Oat Overdose had you around the first corner somewhere. First people were setting up a bit after 7 and it started building up after that.

For the life of me I cant understand why the line moves sooooo slow at Other Half

This is definitely not right - I got there at 8:45 for Oat Overdose and was already around the second corner partway down Garnet. I got cans around 12:45 if I'm remembering right, which is why I said 1pm if you got there at 9. Could have been later than that even - the line moves incredibly slowly.

My bad. I was just basing it on what people around me were saying. I got in line around 715 and was maybe the 10th person. When it opened at 10 they said the line was basically parallel to the other half entrance on the other block.

This "hobby" has gone absolutely berserk, wouldn't surprise me at all. IMHO, lining up for hours upon hours to buy an IPA that no one has ever tasted before is berserk, but this is what this game has turned into.

Yea it's definitely not enjoyable. My work schedule has me out of work at 5 so it's either an hour to other half and wait or an hour home and then drive back later which knowing myself I wouldn't do once I got home.

How long did it take you to buy if you had 10 people in front of you? trying to do a little math

I picked up my beer, had a beer while I got my growler filled and was on my way home by 1030.

I agree, stood in a far longer line at Treehouse last Friday and was through with cans in less than an hour. I guess it's a space issue? OH only has two pay stations, TH had three or four (if I recall correctly).

I've never seen more than 2 pay stations at TH for cans. They have a 3rd for merch and growlers. They keep the line moving and also open early which helps.

When I was at TH it was when Juice Machine got randomly announced. They had 4 pay machines from what I remember and people behind that just prepping for next orders at all the stands. They flew through the line even on that day. Don't know what OH does, but it has always been painfully slow. I think it may be because they let you pay and then you go and tell the people with the cans what you bought and they fill your order instead of anticipating peoples orders and having set boxes made.

Maybe I'm mistaken about that, wasn't actually counting at the time. I was overly impressed with the well oiled, can selling machine that they have going on there right now though. Even growlers were about as efficient as they could possibly be, considering the volume of customers.

Yea I actually think a lot of the bottleneck is the pickup area for cans. There's not much space there and as @Moopband mentioned they don't get your cans ready until you tell them what you bought. Plus, a lot of people put their cans into bags before they step away, which slows things down further.

I've never actually bothered to fill a growler on release day, but if I wanted to do that as well as get my cans, what order would I do those in so as not to compromise my spot in line or slow things down?

The bracelets help keep your spot in line. At least they did two weeks ago. But you could always befriend the folks behind you and ask them to hold your spot while you fill your growler. Or have a pint. Or two.

Growler filling is always slow especially if a few guys in a row want the same beer. I got forever ever and was done in a few minutes. Few people behind me were getting the same thing and they said it would be about a 10 minute wait.

Remember the growler fills are counter-pressure fills and therefore take longer. Much better for the beer!

Definitely. I don't mind the wait but it can definitely back up when a bunch of people want the same thing and if the 2nd anniversary is available for fills the wait will be awhile.

@Kanger - Is total cans for the anniversary beer the same as Oat Overdose? Do you have an estimate on when it might sell out?

30 degrees at 9am tomorrow, brrrr.
