I just took some time to catch up on this thread. Greg, you sir are a real dude! We'll be so very glad to have you here in VA!

And, after 21 days of no beer, I can't think of a better one to have for my first one. Time to play catch-up. Love my EB's....filtered or unfiltered (crossing my fingers ).

Maybe we can stop talking about hazy IPAs now??

    Not likely.

Stone Enjoy By Unfiltered is not the same as the "milkshake IPA" or "New England-style IPA". Both the appearance and flavor profile is still different. I'll try to post some comparison pictures later (and yes, I swirled the bottom of the bottle to ensure all of the sediment was poured into my glass).

I'll echo other comments in this thread, it tasted like regular Enjoy By to me. Which isn't a bad thing, but I expected something different. Granted I did not do a side-by-side (although I don't know what this would prove given the batch to batch variability many people have experienced on these forums with regular Enjoy By) and it was only one bottle.

But the discussion about hazy IPAs will not go away, Enjoy By Unfiltered is not a Trillium or Treehouse beer (in appearance for the latter, I've only drank Trillium's beers). For what it's worth, neither is Rebel Raw (Enjoy By Unfiltered was far better than Rebel Raw in my opinion).

Tried this over the weekend....it's good. Great aroma. Mine was almost clear. I certainly enjoyed it.

IMHO this is the best IPA Stone ever made. It has everything I look for in an IPA. Funny thing is, I don't think I was ever this impressed with the regular EB. Since I'm very thorough in my research, I had a few more unfiltered spread across the week, yep this is the real thing. I hope to buy many more of these in the future. Rock on Stone!

Tried this on Friday. Tastes pretty close to the normal Enjoy By to me. Maybe a hair more sweet and a little less "dank" but it's still a bit too bitter and vegetal for my tastes. I've just conceded that Enjoy By isn't for me. I like plenty of other Stone beers, just not that one.

If your beer is pouring clear, be sure to swirl the bottom of the bottle and get all that goodness in, champ!

Finally had one of these yesterday. Definitely hazy, not so dissimilar from some of the NEIPAs I've had (Night Shift comes to mind), but definitely not milkshake level stuff or anything. The haze definitely had some floaties in it, though. I realized as I drank it that I haven't regular Enjoy By in quite some time, so I don't have a great frame of reference for comparison. I thought it nice enough, sort of vaguely tropical in the nose, but moreso just a lot of fruity esters. Definitely a nice warming booze on the finish. DIPAs this big generally aren't my bag, and this iteration of Enjoy By didn't do much to change my mind.

As mentioned before, hold the bottle upsidedown on a 45 degree angle and slowly spin the bottle until the sediment is uniformly spread through the beer than open and pour.

I held mine up the the light to see the sediment work it's way through the bottle. Now I can't say the flavor is much different than filtered Enjoy By but the appearance is nice!

I don't get it. So it tastes the same as always, the only difference is that now there is yeast sediment in the beer? How is that supposed to be an improvement?

But has anyone done a blind side by side yet to see if that makes for an improvement?

As I mentioned in my most recent post, I'm not sure you could even do this.

The regular Enjoy By can vary (or at least appear to vary) batch to batch, to the point many people on these forums were convinced each batch was a different recipe.

I suppose the best way would be to simply obtain a regular version and an unfiltered that were brewed around the same dates, and try it out. Of course, it would have to be in opaque glasses or cups.

I'm sure you could get some useful information using two separate bottles, especially if they have settled out. In one glass do a clean decanted pour, while including the sediment in the other. This would at least let you know if the sediment should be included or not.

I saw this once at a local supermarket a few weeks back--didn't pull the trigger. Haven't seen it since. Not at the grocery store, bottle shop, or specialty stores. Oh well...I will catch it the next time around.

I'm fairly certain that the different enjoy by's are completely different beers by design. I'm going off memory but the ABV is always different no?

i had it on draft a couple weeks ago. it didnt look like the hazy new IPA's. I really enjoy this series, but this one wasnt quite as good IMO as the last few.

It is exactly the opposite of what you said. Greg from Stone has been on threads before saying recipe is the same for the EB's.
