From what i heard from some people that were ther, limits too high, too many people, and just disorganized in general. Double barrel sold out lightning fast.

My buddies and I arrived at 930. That put us 6th in line. The limits were set ridiculously high 48 peche bourbon per person. Then within an hour of opening they had to shift the limit to 24. It was selling too fast and they couldn't believe it. It was a great experience. They were handing out free samples in line and they also let us (the first to arrive) wait inside the brewery. I found it was well organize you had a designated person helping you pick your order, I wish all my shopping was like that.

From what I heard, Peche was sold out by the time the 100th person was served. Assuming the previous 99 took their full allotment, that means there was <200 cases available for sale. To me, 2 cases per person was way too high for so little available beer.

Limits were too high for the PM bourbon for sure. Lot of people got shut out. Arrived at 9am and glad i was able to grab a few of them. They need to go the PayPal way like Dunham. It was cool meeting you @Ultrarunner100, had some good beers

I got in line at 11 sharp and was about 75-100 people back. By the time I got up in the cue, the bottle limits had dropped but I was still able to get some Peche. I thought it was very well organized, particularly loved the beer guy pouring free Rigor! I definitely agree the bottle limits were too high though, and a paypal system would be great. I am really bummed I never bumped into you @papat444 & @Ultrarunner100.

I am going to take that as a compliment, that I was too slim too see !! Unfortunately, I have often been referred to as an orange Michelin Man when wearing it though, so I dunno....:flushed:. I had some cool bottle caps for you as well (from New Zealand microbreweries). No harm, no foul; there is always next year!

I heard most of the butthurt coming from folks showing up after noon. They did have OTHER beers for sale besides BA Peche, right? Also, complaining on FB just goes to show that some are out of touch with where the beer scene is in 2015/16. You gotta bitch about it on BA or RB.

Check that.... just read the FB comments. Jeebuz.
So much entitlement. DDC doesn't need fans/supporters like those.

Followed the feedback on Facebook. I can understand people being upset. For a release like this one, setting the limit at 48 bottles is a little ridiculous and a bit of a rookie move IMO.

That being said, glad I avoided all that and had no lineups in Vermont for this haul, including Triple Sunshine

Rookie moves by the patrons who were shut out.
And db moves to call out DDC on FB. Unless it made them feel better. Then its worth it.

Take in consideration the fact that fans ASKED for limits weeks prior to the event, and even asked to lower the limits, since it was a coveted release. Rookie moves by the patrons who were shutout? What is the plan for next year, camping from thursday night? If the guys who didn't make "rookie moves" by showing around 9 all missed out cause 100 others had showed at 4 in the morning, would it have been a rookie move to show at 9? What's the end of this whole thinking, and what's a the benefit behind having people line-up in your parking lots for hours, maybe eventually days, rewarding few individuals who are super extreme about hoarding the maximum amount? I feel like people showing up 3 hours before the sale started could assume that with these kinds of limits, the brewery had produced a massive amount.

I feel that when fans ask you to put limits, and then to lower them, the point is to get the beer to many afficionados who are loyal to your brewery. I might be a dumb idealist I guess...

That being said, I didn't show up, since I felt it would probably be a mess, and didn't complain anywhere, but I still feel it's a pretty weird move from the brewery to not listen to the crowd. In the end, it's DDC's decision, and people just have to adjust I guess. I don't think they intended to exclude tons of people waiting in line, I just feel like they got caught off-guard by the community general enthusiasm. All about being in touch with the 2015/2016 beer scene I guess?

Exactly. What's the point of having 48 BA Péché? To stare at? I'd much prefer see more loyal customers be rewarded with a nice 6'er and then buy a few more than have a few people have it all and trade or just hoard it.

48... I never even buy that much beer at once, so I don't get it.

And to be clear, I didn't voice this anywhere but here. I just think, as I said, it's a rookie move.

Now people who waited in line will have to trade for it? Ridiculous...

I don't think that was the intention of DDC at all, but that's what it's coming down to. I think a case per person of the regular barrel aged and 4 double barrel per person would have made more people happier.

Idealism is great. But it doesn't work with craft beer these days, sadly.
Welcome to bottle releases everywhere every weekend.

I also love the know-it-all mentality of some who think they know what the exact number or limit should be. Gimme a break. Sometimes no one can predict the mass of people who show up, or how much they want. DDC listened to some people, obviously. But others still think the limits should be lower. There is no perfect number.
I've also seen breweries have lower limits on bottle releases only to have them drag out for days, and weeks in some cases. The beers sold. That was the point. Lower limits would have also tied up their staff longer (more transactions to complete) and pissed more people off for the even longer waits.

I am not a big fan of tying bottle releases to brewery parties (holiday specific, or anniversary). People get so wrapped up in the bottles they forget about the celebration of DDC.

If I were as upset as some (you) I wouldn't even trade for it. F them, right?
But if the beer is worth trading for its worth waiting for. Some people just didn't want it as much as others. That simple.
