Thought pulp was great because it just tasted like juice. Def gonna check out more of their releases. Grew up on the eastern shore, visit often. Nice to see the different options

 

had Hyde on tap at Churchkey same day as the BCBS release. It was really good. Hope they keep up the larger batches. The maple nose/taste on 1st Meal is unreal

 

So glad to see RAR getting some local hype. I was at ChopDank, Hyde, and Reaper releases, and this weekend was insane in comparison. Its like my favorite little band just signed a mega record deal. I was floored by the amount of people there (I got there 30 minutes before open and was still something like 50th in line). I thought all three beers this weekend were very good, especially impressed with 1st meal as their first true stout offering Ive had.

From everything Ive heard, March 12th is going to be crazy. Cans of ChopDank, Reaper, and Hyde all being released from what I understand. All three are fantastic beers. RAR is putting some of the best stuff out in MD right now, and everyone is finally starting to notice.

Yea they said all three will be released in cans that day. Im sure a lot of people have the same mindset as you, it might not be worth to hike down to Cambridge for one beer but for three? And three of their (arguably) best hoppy beers at that? I just hope they make as much as they did for this release so everyone gets theirs.

 

can we rename this thread? Id like to keep tabs on Union and RAR releases (sorry flying dog). seems like the DMV thread is all about bottle chasing..

 

I stay away from the DMV thread, because it seems to be NoVa and DC-centric. Doesn't do much good for an Eastern Shore dweller, such as myself.

I'm like 20 minutes away from RAR. If anyone ever wants to trade some cans or growler fills, hit me up. Not sure when I'll have time to swing down there this week, though.

find it funny that some of the best MD brews is coming out of the eastern shore (grew up in Salisbury. but moved). must be something in the water.

 

The funny thing is that the water on the Eastern Shore - at least here in Easton - is horrendous for brewing. Maybe better in Cambridge or Salisbury, but I assume it can't be much better.

My favorite breweries in this state are Union, Evo, and RAR. 2/3 on the Eastern Shore...

 

Don't forget Burley Oak on the eastern shore as well. Haven't loved their cans but always have a good time at the brewery when in OC

 

Yeah Burley Oak isn't bad. I don't really get all the love that is thrown their way, but they are definitely solid.

Back on topic, I'm also bummed I didn't hear about this event in time since all 3 beers sound right up my alley. I'm going to keep 3/12 marked on my calendar for their next big release.

 

I picked up a growler of Pulp at the brewery a few hours ago, and I have to say I'm a little underwhelmed after the hype. The orange is super subtle both in smell and taste. Like, I probably would have struggled to find it if I hadn't been primed to smell/taste it. I'm getting some lemon as well, but it almost tastes like a wheat beer to me, and that is really the dominant thing. It's a burnt-orange and definitely hazy. Kind of sour in the finish. Not a juice bomb. Certainly a solid beer, but I'm confused. Did they give me the wrong beer? It doesn't taste like what other people are describing. Not trying to hate, but disoriented I guess.
