Hi there - I would simply use the excellent store/pub locator we have, but it's down temporarily as we all know...

Sorry, but can anyone tell me of a great place to get superior brews in Newark? I'm up for suggestions on a pub, brewery or store. I'm staying at an Newark airport hotel for one night only...

    Thanks!
    Adam

There's really nowhere in NWK that I can think of. Do you have a rental car? If not, just hop a train and head to NYC. That way you can hit up a bottle shop or two plus a few bars. Can also take the PATH to Jersey City and go to Barcade. Other places close to train stations: George Street Ale House - New Brunswick
Busable from NWK Penn: Copper Mine Pub in North Arlington.

A brewpub named Port 44 opened up in Newark last year around the Rock but I haven't gone to it yet.

They're closed. I believe there's a new place called Edison Ale House but I haven't heard many good things

Upon further review, it sounds like Port 44 may have shut down already in mid 2011. Good luck finding a place!

Edit: Looks like some people beat me to it! That sucks, was looking forward to checking them out before a Seton Hall game one day.

Thanks to all for the great recommendations! Some were not in our Places directory, so big help!

Edison Ale House is directly across the street from Prudential center. It's actually on a street that gets blocked off during event days to create a plaza. If you have a car you can pretty much get anywhere. Not sure how public transportation is from the airport but greg gave the best recommendation if you can get to the PATH
