Yeah, I got bit by the oversell problem on a couple of things last year (BA bottle, taster glass). Now whenever something limited is sold I get my butt over to the fulfillment center within a week to make sure I get it (hello, Rum BT).

Whew! For a second there I thought we'd run out of things to complain about!

It wasn't a HS-exclusive. I believe thus far the HS-exclusives were Room for Me, Chupacabra Quincinera, and Colonel Kernel.

Really? Huh. All my emails just say "Society Exclusive" where the other ones stated "Hoarders Release".

From their Jan 4th initial email...

    Poterie™ - Scotch Barrel-Aged
Poterie is French for “pottery”, the traditional eight-year anniversary gift. Our eighth anniversary ale, Poterie, follows in the footsteps of our anniversary releases before it, which are loosely based on an English-style old ale and fermented with our house yeast strain. This edition was 100% aged in oak barrels that previously held Scotch, imparting a subtle smoky complexity to complement the robust flavors of toffee, caramel, dark fruit, vanilla and oak. Poterie will age gracefully for decades when cellared properly.

100% for sure it was. On the store website it even said hoarders exclusive but it would open up to Reserve if enough inventory was left over. (or something along those lines)

Is anyone really surprised though? Variants of anniversary beers have never really sold amazingly well.

So what happened with Rum BT? I ordered that during the xmas sale, and my trustee just went to pick it and many other things up last week, and I see a note on that order saying "STILL NEEDS RUM BT"

Was that oversold and I should expect a refund? Or did they just "lose some" and have to find more?

Looks like you'll be getting either a refund or a Port BT instead. Take your pick.

Was this something you were told? I still have a Rum BT to pick up as well

Somebody posted an e-mail response on Facebook that Rum BT got oversold and those were the options to people who were notified. If you weren't notified, maybe they were able to fulfill your order? I don't know for sure, probably best to just shoot the Society desk an e-mail.

Exactly my point. I bought one during the Xmas sale and picked it up a few days later because I've been offered the refund/other bottle in the past. Rum was low bottle count to start with so I didn't count on them being able to hold it for me for a couple of months.

I just picked up for someone a couple weeks ago and this happened as well. He got a port instead of the rum.

Love the Rum BT, but would take Port/Madeira over it all day long.

I'm heading up this weekend to pick up some bottles which should include Rum Black Tuesday. I'm hoping they decided who got them by the order number and not when you decided to picked up. Looked at my order and came in under 3 minutes from the time it was released.

i doubt its even remotely that organized. The labels all looks so similar im not surprised they get confused. I remeber back when the provisions was open for the may sales on two different occasions i got 09 bts that were supposed to be 2010 bt

For what it's worth I picked up my Rum BT this past Saturday so it could just be random.

I got a Need's RBT a few weeks ago as well. I should be stopping by again on Saturday so I'll see what I can find out. I also think Port>Rum. Madeira was good but I think it probably lands in 3rd.
