Finback Brewery (2018)

I really loved Oscillation 2, it may not have had the Tree House characteristics that have been so trendy lately but IMO it was a fantastic beer. I am really hopping this series of beers starts to speed up I don't want to wait 6 months to a year for the next one.

First ever tapping of BQE aged in Apple Brandy Barrels Hops Hill tonight! This is BQE imperial stout brewed with coffee and chocolate aged over a year in Apple Brandy barrels. It's warming and delicious. Bottle release coming in February

 

Been hit or miss with finback some very good beers and some incredibly disappointing ones.


First beer by then was ::
Buddy system DIPA - first double where the main character I found in it was honeydew almost tasted just like honey dew good but almost a bit too sweet.

Their triple IPA was a huge malt bomb I couldn't get threw a full glass without being reminded of ruinten by stone.

Some of their sours are good and some aren't but starchild was awesome // their gose was almost as good as westbrooke big fan.

Their IPA's for the most part are malty as fuck. Wish they would stick to stouts since that's their money makers.

 

AB BQE is good stuff. Pumped about the bottles after missing out on BQE

 

Very impressed. Love the Apple Brandy Barrel version

WF Columbus Circle will be holding a 5-course beer dinner with Finback on February 19th, coinciding with the opening night of NYC Beer Week.

 

Oscilation 003 is on the way. Now, the real question is if they will be canning it.

Oscillation 3 Can Release, NEXT SATURDAY, 2/13. As they say, Third is the one in the polka dot dress. Number three is filled with Mosaic, El Dorado and Citra. 1pm.

 

Cloudy or clear? I plan to hit Finback Saturday, but as others are I am concerned the draft doesn't correspond to the cans. I did still like 02 in cans, but the 02 draft the release day was much better. Hoping this release won't be the same.

It was cloudy, better than the cans of Oscillation 002, but not as good as the draft 002.

 

Anyone heard anything about the date of the AB BQE release?

 

Per IG, 003 will be canned and malt bill is two row and wheat.

 

Just spoke to them and they are aiming for 2/28.

 

What is the best route to Finback from Manhattan? I'm in W. Village so should I just take the M and then a long walk? Trying to avoid the bus if possible.

 

If possible I would recommend using zipcar or an alternative. It's a 10-15 minute drive through the MT tunnel, and it will probably take you well over an hour by train. Going to be a damn cold walk from that M station too...

 

Wish I could make it this Saturday.

I will definitely be in attendance for the AB BQE though.

 

I heard and know its fantastic. Hops Hill had it about 2 weeks ago. Excited for that release.
