HF Vera Mae - 2015 was even better than 2014.

(Le Sarrasin is the best I've ever had, but it appears that one is gone forever.)

Reading these posts brings a tear to my eye because all I can think of is the outstanding and no longer available Jack D'Or by Pretty Things.

According to @jssf: "You can still find their stuff around, though."

    Cheers!

i thought Prairie Hop was incredible. Saison Brett would be my second choice.

Almost all the Upright saisons I've had have been marvelous. Light saisons (Four), hoppy ones (Five) dark ones (Six), funky ones (take your pick, really), spicy ones (Fatali Four!), experimental ones (Saison Bruges), fresh hop ones (their 2015 & 2014 wet hop saisons were particularly delicious). No other brewery, IMO, captures the raison d'etre (balance, craft, structure) and the breadth of possibilities of the style as well as they do. And at the prices you can get them around here ($80-100/case or ~$8-$10/32oz growler), they really can't be beaten.

Blackberry Farm Brewery out of Walland, TN is killing it with saisons. New brewery but keep an eye out for them.

I enjoyed Upslope's seasonal Blood Orange Saison quite a bit. For me Tank 7 was a little underwhelming.

Funkwerks Saison on tap in Fort Collins was excellent.

    I also liked Stone's Saison.

It's also literally nothing like HF or Casey offerings. I get the appeal of a nice, easy to get saison, but the reason people wait for HF stuff is because it's different and arguably better than all other saisons out there.

Prairie's stuff is probably the most widely available stuff that gets in the same sport (but not ballpark) as HF/Casey/SARA/JK/SP. Prairie Standard, Prairie Ale, etc. are all really tasty and solid beers. Boulevard Saison Brett and Tank 7 as well as Logdson's offerings are sorta kinda the same sport.

Some imports can get that sort of profile as well. Trois Mousquetaires Saison Brett was really nice, and many Belgian and French styles get those flavors you're looking for. Check out Fantome (can be a crapshoot) and Blaugies (have done HF collabs in the past) for Belgians as well as Thiriez for French.

Another vote for Logsdon. Also really love the saisons from Anchorage and Prairie.

Mystic puts out some very good ones. Outside of those Ive seen mentioned Off Color Apex Predator is one of my favorites.

Some friends and myself did a Tank 7 / Hennepin side by side a few weeks back. 2 of us preferred Hennepin and 2 preferred Tank 7. All 4 of us agreed both are quite tasty however.

One individual that originally like Tank 7 at a colder temp, thought that Hennepin actually started to taste better than Tank 7 as it warned up however.

If they can get the carbonation levels right in the bottle I agree. I bought too many of their bottles last year through the CSB program that were gushers.
