Dan may have a point. Many, many beer geeks won't drink it, and it's probably a tad too hoppy for the spotted cow/totally naked drinker to really like it either. I think the same goes for their excellent Edel Pils too. Plus, Hometown Blonde hadn't been brewed in 3-4 years, so apart from the run this fall, I am skeptical that we'll see it brewed after that. But, I'll be more than happy to be proven wrong and will do my part to help out sales of it.

Wow -- all that was implied somewhere? :grimacing:

I can't recall the last time the Edel Pils was brewed, nor can I remember how different or similar it was from the Hometown... anyone?

I believe Hometown was last brewed in '08 and Edel Pils last brewed in '09. I think Edel Pils was somewhat similar but maybe didn't have quite the hop profile as Hometown, but I could be wrong. It's been too long!

Edit: Both are listed as a Bohemian lager on New Glarus' website

I wonder how the Two Women Lager has sold so far?

My wife, aka a Spotted Cow/Totally Naked drinker, did not like Hometown Blonde. So a sample size of 1 says you are correct.

I know I've done my part! :grinning:

I really like the use of the imported malts, made me think of a German Märzen right off the bat. Glad I didn't have a chance to try that first incarnation (see Gonzo's post above) because I'm glad the six packs don't disappoint.

I love the current Two Women. I also never had the first one. My fridge always has a couple in it on backup.

Drinking a Hometown Blonde right now. It's better to me than it was the first time. I still would rate those other New Glarus lagers above it, but that's not saying much because I LOVE the other beers. I like a ton of beers better as they warm, but I think I like Hometown Blonde better straight out of the fridge.

Got a 6 of this an Staghorn and wow what great lagers, it backs up my case for New Glarus making the best lagers that is for sure. With all the dissapointing 6 pack's I have been buying lately it is great that New Glarus is a brewery I can always choose that will be awesome every time.

I just had my first Dancing Man Wheat, and wow was that a treat. I didn't realize how much I could like a Hefeweizen. New Glarus has had some solid beers this year.

Another great home run on style by NG.

I'm not as taken by Staghorn as most, never was -- at least to style. It's far too roasty for an Oktoberfest. That said, it's a well-made, good drinking brew.

Moose -- I'm about to fire up the grill for some ribs -- first beer on the menu is the Hometown, second may have to be 2 Women.

I like the roasty flavor, but now prefer the Greatlakes Ofest.

I like roastiness too -- in a Stout or Porter. Just not what I expect from a good Oktoberfest, and I won't even get started on Great Lakes' rendition... but back to the Hometown:

Drank my last bottle from my short Willi Becker glass while prepping the grill for dinner. As I was savoring I realized how much the Hometown, probably due as much to its freshness as its malts, reminded me of the beers I drank in Munich. Great stuff -- need more.

Happy to hear SOMEONE else likes the current iteration of Two Women! It's been a staple in my fridge all summer, and it is a great lager for the price. Not overly complex, but well-made with the malt character I look for in a refreshing lager and the clean, crisp finish.

I did buy a bottle of the R&D batch while I was at the brewery, and while it was...transcendent... I understand and still appreciate/enjoy the current 6pk version. At $8(?) a 16.9oz it was hardly a steal, though it was incredible.

Interesting. My family and I met some relatives from Indiana this weekend and brought along Hometown. Same situation except she really enjoyed it.

I just think they should've called the "new" Two Women something different. The brewery only batch (which really was fantastic) and the mass produced version are two completely different beers with different ingredients. I assumed the mass produced beer was going to be like the R&D batch because they were giving it the same name. I should've known better--bottles at the brewery were $5. I'm not sure how I thought they could brew the same beer at the price they have their sixers at! :grimacing:
