I hope the hype from last year wont affect the price this year

Evil Twin and Mikeller both have a secret dark pact to convince beer buyers to chase after every stupid release while convincing people there crap is worth $10+/11.2oz bottle.

I haven't tasted it yet so I can't say if it was worth it, but I just picked up a $17.99 6 pack of BP's Victory at Sea. Ouch. I was hoping to get either Grapefruit or Pineapple Sculpin, but both were $19.99 for 6, which is (imo) an insane amount for a beer you've never had before.

Evil Twin bombers. Even more Jesus is solid, just not $18 solid. Barrel aged Yeti-great beer and I'm opening my 2nd bottle tonight, but damn.....almost $30?

I think that some of the Bruery and Brooklyn bombers are way over-priced.

Ouch! to you and the other posters. I saw someone who was paying - or not - $12 for Bomb! Around here it's about $6, and the variants (and Noirs) are usually $8-9. I don't know if it's the distributors or who, but geez...

I have not bought a Cascade bottle since they quit selling directly to the consumer. We used to be able to get most for $20 and at a case price it broke it down to about $2-3 each bottle and no sales tax. Those were the days.

The amount of shit I have had to go through year in and year out for this stale tasting coffee beer is ridiculous, wish it wasn't my gf's favorite..

Such a hype beer it makes me cry!

Gotta say Pliny is not a great example given its price point vs most DIPA bombers. Any 375 ml that's over $14 better be really fucking good for that price.

I don't get how great divides barrel aged beers are so expensive. Hibernation is 10-11 a six pack throw it in a barrel and it's a $23 bomber. Seems crazy. I do love most of their beers so maybe I need to give the BA versions a try, I just can't pull the trigger.

Their 16 or 17 ounce bottles are around $8 so yeah, that sounds like a rip off

Was looking at this HUGE Clown Shoes arrangement tonight at the beer store and I kept doing the

*grabs one off the shelf, checks the price and puts it back*

    *hesitates*

*grabs the same bottle off the shelf, checks the price again and put it back*

    -repeat for about 8 minutes

Couldn't agree more that they're insanely overpriced....but some are really friggin good

I clicked this thread expecting OP to be complaining about a $30+ bottle of beer, not a $7 Pliny.

Mikkeller is way overpriced. I would buy most of their stuff if it was about half the price. I typically only buy their "geek" stouts.

I don't get it either, besides the obvious supply and demand thing. I'm dumb enough to buy it and I'm not wealthy by any means. I limit myself to one a month. Barrel aged yeti is a great beer though. Very complex, with a massive roasted dark chocolate flavor to mesh with favors from the barrel. My shop has barrel aged old ruffian and a friend of mine highly recommends it too. I'd pull the trigger, just to at least try it. If this was reasonably priced I'd buy it a lot. If only it was priced more reasonably.

Pliny The Younger...Not worth my time to wait in line.

My time is worth more, and time is money and time is beer to be had

Somebody must drink some cheap whisky. Besides the Utopias I can't think of very many beers in the same price range as a good whisky.

I guess that would be why my vote, btw, goes for Sam Adams Utopias. At $200 per bottle, I can just buy a real bottle instead.
