Agreed, actually, in terms of the latest local brewery release - much easier to get me out of the house for that, I suppose. I work from as well, so I totally understand the stir-crazy bit, although even then turning off the computer, phones, email notifications, etc when it's beer time can have the same effect as leaving the house.

Id choose to chill at home with a good beer.

You could really turn this into something fun like......

Would you father have full tree house availability like sam Adams distro
But then Founders and Sierra Nevada close down

    Or

Everybody get a cantillon beer for a year straight (365 beers) but you have to drink 1 habanero sculpin or cave creek chili beer every hour for 24 hours straight and eat every pepper from the bottle.

Damn, man - you brought out the big guns. Heavy stuff for a Tuesday afternoon:slight_smile:

I guess I'd have to go with option A - Habanero Sculpin nearly killed me the first and only time I had it. Now, do I get to pick if it's Founders or SN that shuts down? I love both breweries without reason, but I guess I'd feel the hit more if we lost SN. Like I said, I love Founders but find I have more SN in the fridge at any given time.

Agreed. Plus being able to follow Twitter for bottle shop releases during working hours gets me out enough.

While I go out on occasion, it's more luck of being somewhere for a seasonal release than actually seeking a 'rare' beer. Too much of a shit show these days for the top shelf. You can call me 'Dorothy' because there's no place like home!

Would you rather be stuck next to a self-proclaimed beer snob at the bar schooling you on stuff you know or stand in a line 100 people long for a 1 ounce sample of a rare beer so you can get the tick on BA and feel cool?

I should also say I live in pretty small town - about 25,000 or so - so the number of places serving beer good enough to venture out for is pretty small. I'm curious about folks who live in bigger cities - do y'all head out to your favorite brewery/beer bar on Friday nights, or do you opt to enjoy some beers at home with friends, family, etc?

Beer snob at the bar hands down. Because at least then I passive-aggressively poke fun at him while he's schooling me, or get up and move to a different spot. But mostly the passive-aggressive comments...

Id say 70% of the time, I'm staying home 100% of the time.

Also need to factor in that i am a cheap bastard, and most of the time i'd rather not pay brewery/pub/bar prices

I'm going for that 10oz pour with friends. One of the great joys in trying new beers comes with sharing the experience.

I live in a rather large footprint that has easy access to three states and is a hop skip to the beer metropolis that is Chicago. We have a few places nearby that get some good selections as well. All said, I'm not much of a strategic planner. If I'm in the mood to go out, I do, and whatever beer I happen across is good enough. The majority of my serious drinking is done in the safety and comfort of the man cave or down the street at my bro's. My late night party days are in the rear view mirror!

Tappings of anything rare around here are a major shit show, to the point that a lot of places are doing tickets for them now. Many of these places are hard enough to get into on a regular night, forget about a special tapping.

I would much rather stay home and drink something I like.

Yeah, the Super Rare Beer part makes it easy to decide, doesn't it?

Would you rather drink in your damp, dusky cold basement/garage/shed in the winter, or out in the backyard in the blazing hot sun middle of summer. I choose summer :sunglasses:

Would you rather get in line for a special release with some friends, enjoy some good bottles and conversation, and get to the front of the line only to realize they've sold out OR get the special release hand delivered to you with no wait, but have to enjoy it alone?

Haha, well, it probably ain't helping. I've spent the last 20 years playing music in clubs, so, lots of people in a room is enough to make me homesick, real quick! But, they say, nothing draws a crowd.....like a crowd.

I guess it all depends but sometimes just kicking it on the couch with the go-to beer is not a bad a choice.

I'd go out for the rare 10 oz. I drink at home enough and like going out for a drink.

I'd go the bar to get the rare beer. I don't drink as much as I used to, and I still want to try as many different beers as I can. I seldom buy six packs anymore.
