I also recently saw an ad for a Destihl/Pipeworks tap takeover event in March and Pipeworks was bringing Crimson Snapper.

Well that's a nice surprise! Hahaha. Nope, we didn't dump it, we are aging it in bourbon barrels. That sounds like it's gonna be a badass release. Cinnamon/vanilla/bourbon. Yes, please.

Yah, the vanilla was barely noticeable. I didn't think infection when i had it (usually not something that comes to my mind unless something is seriously off), but did think the flavors were all over the board and unidentifiable.

Fair - perhaps infection is a bit of hyperbole; but something definitely wasn't on point for that beer (at least for me).

At one point while bottling I was told they basically used different hops in almost every batch. Supposedly just a mix of good old american hops! That may have been normalized a bit after canning, but would think they still mix it up based on availability.

So it *was* dumped...into bourbon barrels. Due to a problem of it not being awesome enough yet.

stop for the hyper dog it was amazing! the collaboration bottles are probably long gone they ran out of the regular barleywine during the first group of people that was there.
my wife and I got there 20 minutes before they opened and where the first in line, when they opened at noon the place was filled. no line when we left.
I was surprised that there was not a line when we got there.enjoyed some great jambalaya and the barrel aged hyper dog. Got our bottles and left in just over an hour. well done local option.

Did anyone else walk away on Friday from Local Option paying around $23 for a bottle of Rohrwerker? Had a friend pick me up a bottle for that price to enjoy at home. At the time I did think it was a little much. Received the distro email this morning that it would be hitting stores for $14.99. Now $23 seems right for on-site consumption, but for a place that's part of the collaboration to increase the price that much is absurd. This has made me take a double look at Local Option. Don't think I'll be coming back to that place any time soon.

Was your friend mis-charged at LO perhaps? You might want to call them and ask, or stop in to inquire. I'd at least explore that before writing off a great place (IMO). I find it odd they would jack up their own prices like that, especially when they just sold bottles of 2014 Prop and Vanilla Rye to go for $30 each recently - they could have easily jacked those up to $50 or so and still sold out just as quickly.

LO is bizarre in general, have you noticed your receipts after paying shows a "rounding". They essentially charge you more money to round your bill to the next round amount. I've seen restaurants offer to do that for the rounding amount to be sent to charity. They do not warn they are doing that nor does it mention charity, so I can only assume the rounding goes in their pockets.

Don't get me wrong they have some great tappings, but that's pretty annoying..

I called this afternoon. The guy said that $23 was around the price they bought the bottles for. I agree it seems odd that they would jack up prices like that. I remember buying prop and VR when they did that sale on New Years. Loved it, but things like this make me look the other way when viewing Local Option.

I can't blame you for feeling that way, and your experience is a warning for me to tread carefully with LO going forward. Thanks for sharing.

They're probably trying to make up for all the money they have been losing.

Everyone I know refuses to support that place because of their service. I don't care how good the beer is. if it is served by assholes then it doesn't matter/
