    First beerage of the year,

Grimbergen Blonde: Perfect fast breaker, gone after a few gulps.

Ayinger Dopplebock: More of a challenge, but showed me how much I enjoy beer.

Chimay Bleue from 2012: I deserved a treat.

It's tough, but dry January has it's benefits, first and possibly last time for me, but I'm glad I held firm.

Also glad that dry January is over and like jonb5, I probably won't do it again. Last night I had,

    Tempest - Long White Cloud,
    Tempest - Red Eye Flight,
Tempest - In The Dark We Live,
    Brewdog - Prototype Milk Stout,
Fallen - Chew Chew Salted Caramel Stout,
    Bellhaven - Oat Stout.

Thankfully it's now wet February. :stuck_out_tongue:

Off to Annan for Scottish cup tie, son driving so might search out a pint or two.

Last night I had Siren Caribbean Chocolate Cake which was absolutely fantastic. I also had a BrewDog Dogma which I rather liked, but I think it is no longer in production.

Beat Annan 4-1 and into the quarter finals of the Scottish...pleasing.

Had a couple of pints of An Teallach Fuar, really nice smooth ale with a fruity aftertaste.

Last night I had a Wild Beer Millionaire, which is a really great beer in my opinion. I also had the Buxton Wild Boar which was drinkable.

Beer-wise the highlight of my weekend was Black Rock's Black IPA. Really surprisingly nice. Just a hoppy stout really, still thick, decadent and luxurious. A lovely sipper.

I had a can of the magic rock bearded lady grand mariner chocolate orange stout the other night, so good, glad I got 2.

I've got a bottle of the Caribbean Chocolate Cake in the refrigerator, along with Siren's All of it Please! imperial brett stout. Looking forward to trying them...especially considering how pricey that second one was.
This weekend I did try a few new beers including Bellhaven Scottish Oat Stout, Prairie Somewhere (sour saison), and Hog's Back A over T barleywine. Somewhere was definitely the highlight.

Just perusing the 'spoons spring beer festival. Not expecting much really, I think the last couple have been rather rubbish iirc. starts next month.

    possible highlights for me

    Hawkshead Vienna Lager (5.0% ABV)

Robinsons Trooper 666 - 6.66% version of the beer. It's maiden so I will be a sucker and try it, if I see it

err, that's it out of fifty. There's another few decent beers there like Darkstar Revelation etc and I'll probably try a couple of the collabs but they don't look very exciting.

Some great stuff being brewed by new local brewers. Had a cracker of a beer from Castor Ales.

They MUST do a Castor Oil at one point.

reprob8 you make me very envious, I haven't got the time energy or money to make it even to the Toon for a session.

Trying Pilot's Citrus & Basil Sharp saison tonight. It's decent but rather odd. The basil is very distinct but I'm not really sure it adds much. In fact it would be a really tremendous beer without. Good amount of funk, great body. But that damned basil is so overpowering.

Think the bottle was a bit mank too. Grey sludge was coating the inside of the neck and under the cap.

I had my first Magic Rock Cannonball today. It reminded me of Punk IPA, so I could drink it.

As a side note, I notice that M&S have quite a few beers brewed for them. Are there any that you chaps would recommend? I believe waitrose has a few as well.

Well West Ham left that long enough, that definitely deserves a victory drink.

Had a cracking pint of Kew Brewery Petersham Porter which was everything a cask porter should be. Wholesome, luscious, chocolatey. I also stalked around 3 off-licenses and a corner shop to pick up: Arbor Why Kick a Moo Cow, Siren Life's a Peach IPA, Thornbridge Rhubarb de Saison, Kingston Spanker IPA, Big Hug The Bear's Hibernation white IPA, and Weird Beard A Lemon Tree My Dear Watson lemon meringue pie beer. Been a good day!

Unfortunately in my hometown it's nigh impossible to find porter/stout on cask, despite there being several very decent pubs. :-(

St Peter's Old Style Porter this evening. Can't go far wrong with that.

It was luck I think! I'd only seen any on cask once before in the past 12 months in the area (including about 4 months living there!)
