I'll be there. I'm still unclear whether there will be bottle sharing permitted though.

From the last e-mail about the release:
"Bottle Share: We will allow a bottle share before and during the event. We will provide tables, and assuming the weather isn't so comfortable, some space inside before if you need to warm up. Remember, we are guests at Aquanaut and in the neighborhood, so please clean up after yourselves and don't leave bottles laying around."

I like a bottle share, but I've never felt the need to do it at these parties - there's more than enough good beer to be had!

Especially now that the drafts are so cheap  Although a good share doesn't hurt the camaraderie, that's for sure.

I'll be there, looking forward to it. The Apricot Ardent definitely has me interested...

Great. Definitely looking forward to apricot ardent as well, I had another transient beer with peach on tap recently and it was excellent.

The email from Chris was a little vague- the event (and any bottle sharing) is indoors right?

Event is indoors yes, usually we line up outside and share out there but in the dead of winter he usually takes pity on us and lets us do it inside in a little area. Don't forget to keep the bottle share area clean!

Little more of a shit show this time around. Drank two beers in line waiting for two more beers in line. Vicious cycle in comparison to past several releases. If expanding the amount of people in membership, may need to find another location.

On top of that was one of first people in line at Beer Temple for pick up beers. Couldn't buy any of the allocations as extras due to "inventory not being taken" and given to them. They had no idea how many extras they had.

Definitely agree with the shit show comment, talked to a few new society members in line & felt for them since this was their first event experience (this was my 4th). Could have been a combo of the weather & everyone being inside, this being the first event on a Saturday (vs. Sunday) & all Transient taps being at one table.

At BT I had ordered my allotment plus 2 extras & was able to get those plus an extra "day of" Apricot Ardent. Only hiccup at BT was that my name wasn't on their list as having ordered, I had to pull up my email with my order number & then they looked it up in the system & took care of me.

a few bumps this time around, but hopefully it will be lessons learned, especially if the next event is back at Aquanaut

Echoing the comment about the massive line being an issue. I previously said I didn't see the point in bottle sharing, but after getting there and standing in line for half an hour with a dry glass I definitely wished that I'd brought a bottle!

Was anyone else kind of pissed that NBNectar was included? I personally thought that was kind of lame. I bought it when it was released on black friday. Seems kind of shitty to pass of stock that couldnt be sold on members. Maybe its just me.

I definitely had the same feeling. I think it would be one thing if he'd said "this will also be a membership beer, but if you want more bottles, pre-order" when it was announced on Black Friday. I'm not angry about getting another bottle of it, but I still have bottles from the original release and I really would have preferred another new beer.

I was kinda bummed about it but the more I think about it I don't really mind it. Its one of the more "tradable" Transient beers just because of the style alone(added bonus is it's pretty tasty) so at the very least you can feel good hooking someone else up that doesn't have access to it and get something decent in return. And Chris' explanation did make sense as to why he included it.

I must have missed the explanation. Care to elaborate?

I'm guessing that Transient thought the beer would sell better on black Friday than it did, and so they might not have been able to anticipate that it would be a membership beer. I would have been happier with a different beer as well, but this sort of thing is part of supporting a small brewery. I'm curious to see the explanation from Chris as well, since I also missed that.

This was from another message board: I know I can't please everyone with any decision I make with this group. Hell, I had people complain when we went to free beer at the release events (because it caused too many other people to have some and then I didn't get enough). No decision I have made resulted in more backlash than not including Buckley in the membership. Many people were upset they were only able to buy a single bottle as an extra, despite it being for sale at 4-5 different shops, where I specifically had the shop owners hold the beer ONLY for members for 2 days. With Neckbeard only for sale at one shop that is nearly an hour outside the city, I thought it best to include it so members who don't have the ability to make that purchase/trip can still have a bottle. In the end, it is one bottle. If you have enough already, share it with someone who hasn't tried it yet.

First Transient event I've been to was on Saturday. Not trying to be a hater, but it wasn't run well. There was just one spot and one single line where you could get the Transient beers. The whole event was a big line, you'd get a pour, then you'd have to basically get in a line to get in a line - and wait another 20 - 25 min to get your next pour.

Also salty about getting the Neckbeard Nectar - most importantly, it's not a great beer, in addition I got some at Beer Cellar, I have zero interest in getting it again, yet you force me to buy that in the "4 beer package"? If the next release isn't better, in terms of the event and the beer options, I have zero interest in extending my membership to when the Michigan location opens up. To end on a positive, Pentameter and Taweret were top notch beers, unparalleled in all of Illinois.

Definitely agree on Pentameter & Tawaret. For anyone who still has bottles of Tawaret from the last session, be careful because it's a gusher. I had 2 bottles, first one I lost half of on the counter because I wasn't prepared. Second one I was ready for & had a glass ready when the first 1/3-1/2 came out foam....

    I
I agree that the event was a total shit show. I wish they didnt have another brewery and instead had Transiet beers more spread out.

I also agree I will be dropping my membership if it does not improve in both beers included and event. I understand they are just starting and the capital is needed but you need to run things better IMO for it to be worth $100. Decent T-Shit, good glasses, a mediorce hat that will never fit, and poorly run events make it hard to swallow.

Also as others have mentioned, not including one of their most popular beers (buckly) but forcing others to take NBnectar is poor IMO.

Which sucks because I was so excited to finally join and my first experience was just OK.
