To everyone. Someone approached me about participating who has been lurking in the threads but is currently in the midst of his 1st trade. We've been very accepting of true newbies if someone is willing to sponsor. Anybody up for providing said sponsorship? Thanks friends.
In a perfect world, sponsors would know the newbie personally, either have traded with them, or better yet know them offline. This is far from that perfect world and sponsors will often be group members in good standing who were willing to take on a mentee (is that a word?) Since I may not be directly involved in pairing mentors and mentees (I'm going with it) going forward, I'll put this out there: What I've asked of mentors insofar is that they coach the mentor through building their box, which means the mentor needs to be solidly familiar with both the sender's and target's available distro so they can make good suggestions on what TO send AND what NOT to send; the mentor also approves the 'final draft' of the box. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, in an effort to minimize BIF-generated bad trader threads, and to minimize a group-wide feeling of responsibility for making right someone that got shafted, the mentor takes full responsibility for making it right in the case that the mentee's target gets a shitty box, or no box at all. I know that this is a LOT to ask of someone that doesn't know the mentee on a personal level, but so far it has worked really well.
Okay hadn't planned on being in this round but I'd be willing to fill the roll of a sponsor. It will allow me to follow along with out the full involvement.
