I really enjoyed the new hazelnut brown in this pack, and wanted to see what others thought of this year's pumpkin beer. I thought they improved it. It seemed to have more ginger. Any other thoughts? Their Octoberfest is just ok as always. But overall, a good mix. What did you think?
i had that pumpkin at a tasting, and thought it was pretty good. nothing sam adams does is blow your socks off (in my honest opinion), but it is a pretty solid pumpkin ale. i heard the dunkelweizen is just ok. didn't opt to try it at the tasting.
It's a great mix and here in AZ it's a great value, as it's not far north of $1/bottle for the mixed pack at grocery stores. I thought the Octoberfest was a tad lighter and more "toasty" than memory, but it's just an annual memory that could be quite fallible I'm sure. I liked the one from two years ago best that seemed much bigger in the malt & caramel department.
I'll be picking this up in a few weeks (hard for me to drink fall beers when it's still 90 degrees out). I had their dunkel a few years ago and remember it being really good, and im always a fan of their pumpkin. As for their Marzen, It's a modest classic, IMO. Definately looking forward to trying the hazelnut brown and Fat Jack.
First time in a while that I have enjoyed every style of beer in one of their seasonal sampler packs. I'm really liking this year's fall sampler!
I drain poured the pumpkin last night. Stuck with three more. Tasted like a ginger spice cookie with no pumpkin. Very thin beer as well. Dunkelweizen is very banana heavy. Not bad though and I liked the hazel and I am not a hazel fan at all. Overall I will not pick this case up again as the $32 price was too much for what I got. Enjoy
I love most of what Boston beer co does, but the ones I hate and there are many, would never let me buy a pack like that. there Oktoberfest sucked last year. any thing they make with fruit yuck. old fizzle is a drain pour. I just bought a 6 of the cream ale and the Boston ale for $6.50 a 6, that I can live with. its too bad the imp pils is not still in 6 packs and cheaper...I am hoping SN well sell that beer camp Imp pils in 6 packs soon all year, good stuff..
I thought the same thing. Noticed it was 5.3%, I remember it being 5.6 to 5.8% in years past (including last year's, which I thought was quite good).
This pack is a winner. I like all the beers. The Hazel Brown was a nice surprise and getting Octoberfest and Lattitude IPA in the same pack is great.
I thought it was good value ($12.99/12pk.), and pretty on par with all Sam Adam's Beers. I liked them in this order: 1. Dunkelweizen 2. Latitude 48 3. Pumpkin Ale 4. Boston Lager 5. Oktoberfest 6. Hazel Brown
I keep wanting to buy this, but I don't want hop forward beers in the Fall. I'm sure I'll give in since their pumpkin is decent and I want to try the dunkel and brown. The IPA and Boston Lager don't interest me right now.
I just paid $17.99 plus tax and deposit ($20 total) for the Sam Adams fall 12pack at the grocery store in NY. I dont know wtf is going on with the prices here in NY. NY has one of the lowest beer tax in the country. Does the beer really cost the store more money or are they just greedy.
I really enjoyed all of the sampler save for the Hazel Brown. I love hazelnut and brown ales and thought I'd love it, but just found it too sweet. Wish they'd bring back the Bonfire Rauchbier I loved so much last year.
