Inconyc is NYC's Newest Brewery!!

    Iconyc (pronounced Iconic) is dropping 750s of their beer on shelves this week. Their website isn't up yet but they are also doing a launch party at The Tippler on February 27th from 7pm-10pm.

    A quick blurb about two of their beers hitting shelves this weekend here.

    Me too, but it's a pretty unfortunate name. From their website, they seem to know what they are doing, but their brewery name sounds like a bad night club.

    I tried their Saison and Stout... The Saison is hoppy, too hoppy for my taste in a Farmhouse/Saison. The stout was good, nothing fancy with it.

    The saison had some serious funk on it already. I didn't try the stout but will likely snag a bottle this week.

    Maybe my palette is just more sensitive to the hops, but for me it was too hoppy to taste the funk.

    Website is up http://www.iconycbrewing.com/#iconyc1. BA erroneously lists Iconyc as in the city of Queens, not in New York City at all. There seems to be some kind of chronic glitch with the borough of Queens, which keeps getting its own city status on BA. Same problem happened with Finback and Bridge & Tunnel.

    Queens isnt a city, its a borough. It says Long Island City, Queens, NY... Its listed properly, just because you want it to say NYC its not going to say it. NYC is what we call the 5 boroughs collectively, its not something you would use for mail. I wouldnt write NYC in a return address if I live in Brooklyn.

    What I meant is BA does not list it here: http://www.beeradvocate.com/place/city/12/. It's not in the main list on the left side, but only over on the right side. Finback and Bridge & Tunnel had the same problem until it was corrected. I think because in Queens you list your address with the neighborhood (i.e., Long Island City, Queens, New York), BA's system interprets Queens as the city, rather than NYC. Thus, Iconyc stays off the main list on the left side.

    I see what youre saying, technically it should be there since Queens is apart of NYC. Maybe theres a limit on how many city sub-sects you can have. Because then it would be NYC, LIC, Queens, NY and they might not have an extra spot for it.

    Sure they do. I just reported Finback and Bridge & Tunnel, and they added them. Portland's list is way longer.

    I tried Vexed Friday night at City Swiggers. Nice beer but didn't get much more than coffee in the flavor profile. I'm sure they will tweak it a bit going forward

    Maybe it's just me but I'm amused by the concept of "dropping 750s," seems like an iffy thing to do with your beer.:rolling_eyes:
