Okay, that Belgian style beer will have to wait until later. Daddy just remembered he's got Bourbon!

Hey ya'll! Tonight I opened a New Belgium Lips of Faith Series Blackberry Barley Wine which came from my best friend Dan.

A-dark red/purple color with a light, bubble head that dissipated quickly.
S-the blackberry does come through surrounded by the barley wine which was stronger, bringing toasted oak, caramel, toffee, grains, bread, and a bit of red wine
T-follows the nose pretty much completely. I would describe it simply as a barely wine wrapped around a few blackberries. The berries/fruit aspect of this beer is minor in comparison to the barley wine base.

Hahahahaha ... sounds like a veteran LNBAer. :stuck_out_tongue:

Speaking of, are we in Late Night NBS range yet? Let's do it!

    Revolver Ironhead IPA

Full of Centennial, Citra, Apollo and Saphir hops, guess what it tastes like? Hop salad, anybody?

    :grinning:

It's good. A little like SN Torpedo, it's in the typical American IPA range of notes ... citrusy, orange, candied orange, grapefruit, a pinch of grass -- that Saphir addition is kind of cool. It's also got a bit of the mangoey sweet flavor and aroma, but bottled on Feb. 3, it hasn't had time to devolve into a mini-barleywine, so the malt sweetness is relatively tame.

My fun with double Revolvers definitely produced a clear winner: Sidewinder by a landslide. Ironhead is fine but a bit too sweet for me compared to the agave-infused Sidewinder. Still, I'm having a nice time sipping on this Ironhead. And Revolver is 3 for 3 with me (Blood & Honey is fantastic) -- my best friend lives in nearby Fort Worth, and I might drag him over to Granbury to see what's going on at this brewery. They make good stuff.

    Cheers!

Hey man, sorry to hear about your cat. That's a real bummer. From one cat lover to another, I hope Lucy gets better soon.

Late night NBS! Cheers you guys.

Morning and cheers. Saranac has been strutting their stuff with a spring case that included a pilsener and this Irish red ale. Pours red. Copper fire with orangey tones. Absolute clear perfection. A tan creamy head that fell pretty fast but you don't mind watching. Nose is biscuit and caramel. A light nuttiness and a some light hop herbal. Woody earthy hops. Drinks so easily. Dry biscuit little bit of smooth caramel and that woody herbal hop. A light fruitiness that is faint enough to remain pleasant and not lend too much sweetness to the perception. A wonderfully mild beer with an easy bitterness that just finishes it off. Lingers a touch on the tongue. Malt finishes the beer. Gorgeous color!

Happy monday all. Its freezing here in Jersey just like the rest of the northeast. I'll keep this short as I'm at work and for some reason they frown upon long internet use. I am a huge fan of Grimm Ales out of Brooklyn. Tesseract is one of the best brews I've had. I heard they were releasing Lambo Doors this week so of course I was pumped. I get a tip that one of my favorite brew houses will be tapping it over the weekend. I'm either nuts or dedicated ( depends on who you ask ) and I drive 40 mins each way in a car with no heat to enjoy some Lambo Doors. It did not disappoint. What an amazing brew. Just so fruity and juicy. Hop wonderfulness. One of the best I've had. Worth the effort to get.
PS: I also scored my first Pliny The Elder yesterday. It was a great weekend. Probably pop that next weekend. Cheers

I understand what your saying about the dark fruit flavors but think the boozy sharpness is why i enjoy BBCS fresh so much. You can expect more of the same for the next 2/3 years. Never had it older than 5 years.
