When I asked him if he had the abyss rye aged, he had no idea what it was. He told me that he couldn't find anywhere on it that said it was Rye. I wouldn't put too much faith in what he said. I did buy a few bottles of beer, but only two were the abyss

 

Yeah, I'm not worried about missing out on it too much since it is a DFH 750, which usually sit around here.

 

I just bought one bottle before I posted. But this hoarding bum-rush crap is why I hesitate to even post stuff on here. Last thing I want to do is feed the greed.

 

I hardly think two is hoarding. I bought one to age and one to take to a beer share this weekend... I have yet to have this beer.

 

Maybe it's the same guy who bought nearly all of the two cases of Regal Rye Rodman's got last week. The employee I talked to said he thinks he knows who it is, so hopefully the gods of beer karma are burning his bridges down.

 

Anyone know of any Heir Apparent still floating around Reston/Herndon/Ashburn/Leesburg area. Heading over that way to visit some friends/family tomorrow and would love to find a bottle to try it if there is still any to be had.

 

I have three bottles if you want to trade for something. If not, I know almost every Whole Foods I've gone to still has it. You may be able to get one in the Fairfax area...

 

Somewhere just got Regal Rye last week and then didn't impose any limits? Crazy.

 

Yeah, I picked up a four pack of the Terrapin this evening at PP.

The employee I spoke with suggested the guy knew about their bottle limits but grabbed it when none of the beer employees were looking.

Heading to Arlington/DC this weekend. Anything I should keep an eye out for to pick up? Any notable Terrapin beers out there? I've always wanted to try some of their stuff but wasn't sure if any of the good stuff is available easily.

 

It's only available on tap, but look for IPA's from Ocelot and Aslin. The breweries are out by Dulles Airport, so it's a hike, but you can find Ocelot on tap at various places. Aslin you'll have to travel for (unless Dominion Wine and Beer in Falls Church gets more by the weekend), but if you like NE-style IPA's then they are nailing it.

 

I know where I'm stopping at tomorrow before MAGFest.

 

Per their beer-mail, Wine Source is getting the Terrapin in very soon. Also fresh cans of Double Duckpin and SMS. It looks like a fresh batch of DD is beginning to hit stores around Baltimore by the way. Honeygo also posted that they have some in.

 

Ocelot will be on tap at places in Arlington. I don't know about DC. Fire Works Pizza in Courthouse has Ocelot - Crimson Tears, Lickinghole Creek - Heir Apparent, Jai Alai, a DC Brau/ Union/ Stillwater collaboration and some other good stuff on draft. Probably one of the beer draft lists for this weekend that I have seen. World of Beer, Sehkraft, Lost Dogs, some other places are kind of disappointing. Rustico Ballston draft menu.

Some beers coming out this week in bottles in NoVA: Hardywood Raspberry Stout, Nebraska Melange A Trois, Adroit Theory B/A/Y/S Black As Your Soul. Some you might be able to still find: Smartmouth Notch 9, Jailbreak Van Dammit, Flying Dog Tropical Bitch, Avery Tweak, Nugget Nectar, Lickinghole Creek Heir Apparent. Dominion Wine and Beer in Falls Church had Hawaiian Speedway on tap earlier this week. They have Ocelot Marbles and Space Cadet on now. Their Facebook feed is ruthlessly up-to-date.

 

And to add, IMO, Terrapin makes nothing you should seek out.

Also, Brookland Pint had Ocelot Talking Backwards and DC Brau ADM as of 2/14. And Smoke and Barrel had Ocelot Talking Backwards and Marbles as of 2/15.
