The only type of beer my wife enjoys is oude kriek. Other than that she is not much of a drinker at all. She tags along with me on my outings and enjoys the atmosphere at many of the places we go. I have no isse with her buying what she wants and she has no issue with my purchases.

My wife gets a little irritated from time to time, asks me why I have so much, when I'm going to drink it all, but then usually just says "Life's too short, just get what you want."

She does get upset when I have a few too many and turn into my drunken alter-ego, but that's been a fairly rare occurrence as of late.

My girlfriend loves sours, so I track those down for her. She usually let's me pick what she's going to drink when we go out, and I'm almost always spot on with my selections. She doesn't like the darker beers though, so I save those for myself and my bottle share group.

My wife also tolerates me and my trades, bottle shares, brewery visits, and way too many beers I own. She'll sometimes drink a bit of a sour with me. She does like ciders as do I. I did learn recently ,as she tasted my first and so far only, Julius, that she liked that one. She split it with me..lucky me....lol.

Seems that this kind of thread comes around every few months and every time I say the same thing: Beer-loving woman ISO cool guy who appreciates a beer-loving woman! It would be great to meet someone who enjoys going to releases, going on beer-cations, trying new things, bottle hunting, etc. I'm still waiting. . .

Try as I might to find such a special lady that's really into beer, so far it remains elusive. Although as women get more into the scene/hobby, my odds are increasing.

My girlfriend is pretty amazing when it comes to beer - she's waited in line for beer (without me there), traveled all over the US with me to visit breweries, and even enjoys a beer with me every once in awhile (she's allergic to gluten).

My SO doesn't like beer (or alcohol in general). Over the last 14 years, I have broken down her resistance through persistence to the point of getting her to try a sip or two of most things I drink. She can now recognize quality brewing and can pick out a lot of flavors.

Upside: she's a built in designated driver.
Downside : I can't call this one in too often.
Upside: it keeps me from going to so many beer events
Downside: it keeps me from going to so many beer events

This thread is literally insufferable. Save for one or two posts, what a steaming pile of gendered, heterosexist bullshit. If you talk about "training" your significant other or force them to go to beer crap with you when they don't like beer, you are a bad person.

I highly doubt they are "forcing" them to go.

My wife likes musicals, I take her because she loves them and it makes her happy. It's no different than that.

A bit of an overreaction, I don't feel like reading through all of them again but I don't recall reading where anyone was "forced". Also I'm sure many people of all genders/relationships tag along on some things that aren't necessarily their favorite thing to do..but may end up enjoying at some point..jeeze..

You both happen to be from Illinois. I know, big state, but you may have just found each other. Could be a match made in heaven.

They do, and they're all taken. I've got one of them, married three years ago, and she insisted we have a beer tasting room at our wedding reception.

My dear spouse of 42 years enjoys craft as much as I do, if not more. Unlike me, her sense of smell and taste is razor sharp. The reviews posted under my Avatar are always a joint effort. I probably couldn't smell a skunked beer even if I snorted it up the ol' schnooz.

As an added plus, since she's an English major with a minor in German, she can not only correct my grammar but can read German beer (bier?) and wine (wein?) labels like a native.

My g/f loves sours and appreciates hops so I get to try a bit of everything. I get to drink all of the dark stuff myself.

Mine is a problem. She used to be a Corona Light drinker....used to.

Backtrack to late August 2015 and our quarterly NE beer run (a buddy and I hit TH, Winooski, Foley, HF, MBC, Bissell, Found, and fly home staying over a night). The bride was never a fan of any of my beers, good more for me. Night 1 we hit TH and she digs the vibe in there. Eureka was on and after a few samples we wind up with a couple growlers of it. A week later its gone and at Labor Day Lobsterfest she tries my Julius and that was the point where the snowball gained momentum. Now we take trips monthly but I've gotta fight for my share when I used to get two....lucky she still hasnt developed a palette for stouts.

I consider myself absolutely the luckiest man alive. My wife not only puts up with but also loves drinking craft beer. I've turned her from a snobby wine drinker into a craft beer aficionado. I've caught her saying "this IPA is way too old, I'm getting nothing but malt on the nose!" *sniff* Not only does she put up with my craft beer hobby she actively supports my homebrewing too!
