Bug when renewing/subscribing an international subscription via Subscription Genius

    Hi,

    I get "Bank Response: Approval was not returned for the transaction." whenever I try to renew my subscription.

    I have tried several credit cards, but all get the same response.

    I have no problems with other online credit card transactions.

    Is this a known issue for international subscribers?

    It's the first issue we've come across. Is the billing address that you're entering exactly the same as the one associated with your credit card?

    Thanks for the quick reply, Todd.

    Yeah, the address is the same.
    However, there are some differences in which fields are used for US addresses and Norwegian addresses.

    For example, in Norway we only use State, not City.

    So theoretically, there might be a problem with fields not matching (since City is a required field).
    But on the other hand I've used the US format with City/State on countless webshops over the years, so it is not very likely the real cause of the problem.

    Also, the cards that I've tested are from different banks, which might indicate that this is an issue with how Subscription Genius communicates with Norwegian banks.

    However, if you've managed to get renewals from Norwegian customers through Subscription Genius previously then communication between Subscription Genius and Norwegian banks is obviously not the problem.

    Another possible cause is that the leading 0 is stripped from the Zip Code, while in Norway Area/Zip Code is always 4 digits and always has leading zeroes if the number is less than 1000.

    Update: Subscription Genius has fixed the country bug. Although it wasn't being displayed, it was being passed. Meaning that this wasn't the cause of the issue. The cause is on the user end.

    Here's the reply from SG re: this thread and another screenshot that I sent to them from review from another customer.

    I have been trying to renew my subscription for over an hour now, but I get the same response as Kheperu.

    I'll look at the transaction logs tomorrow after they clear to see if there's a specific error. I'll also bring this thread to Subscription Genius attention again. Thanks.

    Hi again.

    I still have this problem, and it is unfortunately not an issue of not filling out the form correctly.

    As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have to use Oslo both as City and as State in Billing address.

    City is not a part of the address format in Norway, only State.

    However, as City is a required field in the form, I have to enter a value.
    But no matter the value I enter, no comma is shown between state and ZIP in the billing address of the order review.

    I have also tried all combinations of City and State in my shipping address ("Oslo" in City, blank value in State + blank value in City, "Oslo" in State + "Oslo" in both City and State.)

    I have even asked friends to try to create memberships, and it also fails for them.

    I'm afraid this is a general problem of some sort, and not an user issue.

    @Kheperu Sorry that you're still having issues. I'll follow up with Subscription Genius again. But at this point it might be better if we put you in contact with their support team to help resolve this issue. Let me know if it's OK to share your email with them.

    I had the same problem with my subscription and they couldn't fix it. The same comma kept appearing. .
