Laurelwood has 4 locations. The one inside the airport I'll go ahead and assume isn't the best one. If I could only go to one, is there one that is definitely better than the others? I prefer barrel aged, wild, sour, & coffee beers if that helps.

Same question for Lompoc with their 5 locations...

You're not going to find much (if any) of the barrel aged, sour, or wild variety at Laurelwood. However, their Portland Roast Espresso stout is awesome and is out now. Also, don't be afraid of the airport locations - particularly on your way out of town.

I agree with @JouerAvecLeFeu re: Sidebar. You're likely to find some interesting one-off barrel aged stuff there. Though if it's a nice day, Hedge House is a cool place to chill and people watch from the front porch. But again, you're unlikely to find anything outside the Lompoc standards, none of which are sour, wild, or barrel aged.

You're correct about the airport location, though there's nothing wrong with it. The selection is more limited there, which is why I would recommend the other outposts.

I've never been to the spot up in Battle Ground, but my guess is that it's not significantly superior to the two Portland pubs. In my opinion, the two Portland spots are pretty comparable, so I would made a decision to visit based on other factors. Depending upon where you're going to be staying in PDX, it's a pretty good drive to get up to Battle Ground, and it's something of a hassle to get down to the Sellwood location as well. Unless you see something on the tap list that you're just dying to try up in Battle Ground or down in Sellwood, I would stick with the location on NE Sandy.

Again, it all depends on where you're going to be staying. If you're going to be up in Vancouver, then I'd recommend going the Battle Ground location. If you're going to be staying in Oregon City, West Linn or Lake Oswego, then of course you'd probably want to visit the Sellwood spot. Otherwise...

Laurelwood closed the Battle Ground location 2 years ago.

An even better reason not to go there. :-)

If I am going to stop by Apex tonight for some beers, anywhere good to eat within quick walking distance?

Double Dragon across the street is solid. They're known for their pork belly "bahn mi."

Edit: Double Dragon is closed mondays, sorry.

If you don't mind a bit of a walk, I'd hit Lardo on Hawthorne. Greasy burritos also an option at Los Gorditos next door.

I'd say Laurelwood's best location is their main one on Sandy. Sellwood is good but can be a little out of the way and I'm unsure about how much of their one offs/seasonals/barrel stuff make it down there. The one inside the airport is the best one... if you're at the airport.

Lompoc it's definitely 5Q/Sidebar (they're right next to each other). That has the most variety and will have all of their seasonals/one offs/barrel stuff; Side Bar is quite cozy too. Hedge House will only have 2-4 seasonals/one-offs/barreled stuff along with their main stays, but sitting on that lawn is very pleasant when it's nice out (one of my favorites). Oaks Bottom will have more seasonal than Hedge House, but like the Sellwood location of Laurelwood, it's a little out of the way and more of just a neighborhood pub. Lompoc Tavern I can't say much about because I only went there once when they re-opened, I miss New Old, it was my favorite.

Los Goditos is right next door; Pine State is a block away. There's a few other places within walking distance, but not quick walking distance.

It's worth noting that Pine State is only open mornings thru mid-afternoon. (Probably a good thing, since a late night McIsley after a sesh at Apex could be a lovely, dangerous thing.)

Welp, now I'm really confused at where I ate a reggie-ish meal on a beer bar/brewery crawl in that area that I did during the summer...

Thank god, I was really stressing where I ate fried chicken, biscuits and bacon after a 12hr bar/brewery crawl. Actually, I guess that could've been hotcake house, but I'm happy to know that my memory was probably right.

Is there anywhere in or around portland that sells 12 bottle wine shippers? I know Portland Wine Storage does but I can't make their hours before I leave.
