Pittsburgh - New Beers & Local Breweries

Yeah, day to day they get more chatter than Voodoo for sure but I think that's mostly because of the frequency with which they introduce new stuff. Voodoo doesn't put out new beers nearly as often but when they do it (justifiably) dominates conversation for a bit.

That's not a critique, by the way. Just stating the facts.

I bought a few 08As a couple years ago. I've opened two. One I didn't notice any burnt flavor at all. The other was undrinkable.

 

For me it's probably because my expectations of them are so high now that them making awesome beer is pretty much status quo, so I'm not going to post about every beer they make.

 

Random question, but is it common knowledge that Gratitude (and last year, BA as well) makes it onto bottle shop shelves out around Philly?

 

The other breweries on here should be ashamed of themselves for not liking this post. What a slap in the face. #notagoodlook

We need a local brewer to come out with a milk stout called Cat's Milk.

 

Seriously, don't get me started on the under-representation of cats in craft beer's branding & imagery. Everything's dog this & dog that, but cats played a much greater role, historically, in the brewing world.

 

What you cite as under-representation, I call appropriate neglect.

Not sure how many of you make your way over to the "Beer it forward" thread on BA. But, for the past 2 years, @RayOhioFelton has organized an awesome LIF to benefit the cystic fibrosis foundation:

As you can see, this is an awesome LIF, raising a lot of $, and donating some awesome boxes of beer !!
And for the past 2 years, a bunch of BA's in Central/Eastern PA have put together some awesome Boxes to include in this raffle. This year I'm hoping to put together a box from a bunch of Pittsburgh (we can call it "western PA" if @tommyguz wants in) BA's. If you are interested in donating a bottle, let me know.
Not sure what I plan to include, but will probably be along the lines of a Rare Barrel Sour/Bo & Luke type bottle.

When are you hoping to have the box ready, Dan? I don't have anything to contribute at the moment, but I can work on that if I have a little time...

 

He is planning on having the drawing on May 22nd. Plenty of time.

I should be able to get a box together for this, probably be easier than trying to get a bottle or two to you for your box?
